15.12.1941 THE IRON WALL

CENT.PAC. AREA

Day after sinking of Allied surface fleet, KB is sent north since it was decided that it’s safe to do so now. Objective: Wake island. Our troops in Wake are recovering nicely thanks to huge amounts of supply that got landed before shore batteries sunk our transports. Only thing our infantry still needs is little push in the back by KB bombers and they’ll try to DA Wake again. We’ll wait until then.

In the meantime our screen managed to pick up a straggler from yesterday’s battle:

Night Time Surface Combat, near Midway Island at 150,105, Range 9,000 Yards

Japanese Ships
BB Hiei
CA Tone
CL Abukuma
DD Akigumo
DD Kagero
DD Shiranui
DD Urakaze
DD Hamakaze

Allied Ships
DD Downes, Shell hits 2, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk

Reduced sighting due to 10% moonlight
Maximum visibility in Clear Conditions and 10% moonlight: 10,000 yards
Range closes to 9,000 yards...
CONTACT: Japanese lookouts spot Allied task force at 9,000 yards
CONTACT: Allied lookouts spot Japanese task force at 9,000 yards

Our subs hugging West coast did well:

Submarine attack near San Francisco at 206,90

Japanese Ships
SS I-26

Allied Ships
TK Manzanillo, Torpedo hits 2, heavy fires, heavy damage

TK Manzanillo is sighted by SS I-26
SS I-26 launches 4 torpedoes at TK Manzanillo

Subs around Hawaii did good as well:

Sub attack near Lahaina at 182,107

Japanese Ships
SS I-5

Allied Ships
AO Sabine, Torpedo hits 2, heavy fires, heavy damage
AP President Jackson
DD Smith

SS I-5 launches 4 torpedoes at AO Sabine

MALAYAN THEATER:

Surface battles north of Borneo did not go well for us so far, with our landing forces getting slaughtered left and right, so we called for the big guns - Kota Bharu screening BBs. This was a risky move because there was only light CA and DD screen remaining in north Malaya so Allied dash north might massacre our landing forces. But on the other hand we had massive bomber force in that area and nothing in Borneo so we had to do something to plug that hole. Just in time:

Night Time Surface Combat, near Singkawang at 56,87, Range 9,000 Yards

Japanese Ships
BB Kongo
BB Haruna
CA Takao, Shell hits 1
CA Atago, Shell hits 5
CL Jintsu
DD Asashio
DD Oshio
DD Michishio
DD Arashio
DD Akatsuki
DD Hibiki, Shell hits 1, on fire

Allied Ships
CL Java, Shell hits 8, heavy fires, heavy damage
CL Tromp
CL Danae, Shell hits 4
CL Dragon, Shell hits 20, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk
CL Durban, Shell hits 5, on fire
DD Vampire
DD Van Nes, Shell hits 2, on fire
DD Evertsen
DD Tenedos, Shell hits 2, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk

Reduced sighting due to 10% moonlight
Maximum visibility in Clear Conditions and 10% moonlight: 12,000 yards
Range closes to 15,000 yards...
CONTACT: Allies radar detects Japanese task force at 15,000 yards
Range closes to 9,000 yards...
CONTACT: Japanese lookouts spot Allied task force at 9,000 yards

Although Allies had early warning from radar they chose to engage Japanese iron wall. It was good target practice for our BBs, raising exp for several points.

In the day phase our fleet moved in to finish the job:

Day Time Surface Combat, near Singkawang at 56,88, Range 12,000 Yards

Japanese Ships
BB Kongo
BB Haruna
CA Takao
CA Atago
CL Jintsu
DD Asashio, Shell hits 1, on fire
DD Oshio
DD Michishio
DD Arashio
DD Akatsuki
DD Hibiki, Shell hits 4, on fire

Allied Ships
CL Tromp, Shell hits 1, on fire
CL Danae, Shell hits 18, and is sunk
DD Vampire, Shell hits 1

Maximum visibility in Clear Conditions: 30,000 yards
Range closes to 18,000 yards...
CONTACT: Allied lookouts spot Japanese task force at 18,000 yards
Range closes to 12,000 yards...

It’s safe to say that air has been cleared of Allied forces in DEI theater and naval power significantly weakened so we can proceed with much greater aggressiveness from now on. Only real threat remaining are Allied subs.

we are currently in 27.1.1942 with our game, flipping 3-4 turns a day so I'm waaay behind with my AAR.
All I can tell you is that this game is total slaughter of our little digital men. My opponent is incredibly aggressive and so am I.
Don't know how far will this game go but it sure is fun!
