This is especially true it Italy scraps the 1917 transport which only has a range of 2.ORIGINAL: brian brian
I have never thought about this before but Italy can always safely rescue the Supply Unit in any game if it wishes.
Impulse #1, Axis - TRS sails to Red Sea
Impulse #2, Allies - Allies DoW Germany, no other DoW allowed
Impulse #3, Axis - Italian TRS Returns to Base
Impulse #4, Allies - First chance for Allied DoW
thanks guys

Your welcome Brian Brian.
The 2-range TRANS are about the only ones I scrap for any country.
Reflecting on that port strike, I think I need to revisit my set-up for the Italian navy. Once war is declared, La Spezia is a great base to concentrate the fleet but prior to war, when there the Allies can DoW and get the surprise strike, I think a more distributed approach is probably needed. Wherever the TRANS are would probably still be the primary target so not having too much else with them may be the way to go.

No other air missions.
France rails INF from Marseilles to woods near Paris and CW rails TER from Brisbane to Perth.
Land moves
Germany must be pleased to hear that USSR join to attack against Poland (USSR takes East Poland, on a 7 one chit is removed).
Communist Chinese takes Taiyuan.
Nationalist Chinese push few hexes east.

CW debarks TER to Egypt and MOT + ART to France.
US debarks HQ and AT gun to Honolulu.
CW rebases LND Battle to Liverpool.
And here is new weather.
Now talking about this weather, it might actually save Poland. POLAND!!! I forgot to move troops there! Well, at least defense is better in Egypt and France now... When I planned all this last night, I also used land moves in Poland [:)]

RE: Mayhemizer vs AllenK: The resurrection!
I keep the antique TRS for the USA, a friend calls it the "Magic Transport" as it never gets sunk. This could be because it rarely visits forward areas though.
Usually I'm trying to use Italy's initial naval moves to land in some nefarious place, and extract the Supply Unit by marching it across the desert.
When Italy isn't going to DOW, I still use La Spezia for the TRS but I minimize the target profile to 7 or 11 and maximize the AA profile.

RE: Mayhemizer vs AllenK: The resurrection!
I spread out the Italian convoys in different ports in my game versus Z. That was a disaster. The Brits put some subs in the Italian Coast and every time I tried to get a convoy out, the subs intercepted. I could get the 3rd convoy out in the 3rd impulse in a turn because by then both the subs had been 'used' to intercept.ORIGINAL: AllenK

Germany declares war on the Netherlands. The US aren't bothered (8 rolled).
I presume align to CW. Where do the Dutch want to set up?

Is this submarine combat? Only CP can take hits? If so, CW takes all hits. Aborted CP to Gibraltar. If possible, surface ships takes first hits, starting from French CA.
Oh yes it is, now when I read the test in picture [:)]
