Hi
i am trying this out for the first time and have installed it for an existing game (sceno28 - DababesC).

Everything has gone fine except for the "Get Scenario Data" bit where it seems to be stuck after it had completed the Air CSV Header/Data bit successfully. The last couple of lines in the message area read as follows:

Beginning work on cls CSV file
..Beginning work on cls CSV Headings
Heading versus Field Name Misamatch
Field Name : MaxDivingDepth

Any advice on how to fix this?

Many thanks

Check the version of witploadAE.exe that you are using. Check this thread to see if you have the latest. Let me know if that fixes the issue. You might have to delete the scenario database and recreate it (just using the buttons).

So it looks like "api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll" is part of Microsoft's C++ redistributable runtime library. Certainly if it is missing the Python installation process will install it which explains why you installing Python allowed IM to work.

If you do start over - not asking you to because it is a lot of work - it would be interesting to learn if getting outstanding Windows updates done solves the problem.

It would also be interesting to know if installing WITP-AE solves the problem. I know that requires various Microsoft runtime libraries and I am uncertain if they get installed by the installation process if missing.

As I get farther down the road with IM I might be able to improve the installation process to where it too (as Python does) checks for a missing runtime and installs it. I might opt for some alternative because Microsoft prefers that you call their website to get the current version rather than include a version (which might become outdated) in your installers. Right now I include all files for Intel Monkey in the installer and do *not* go out to the Internet at all. Maybe I could generate a message with instructions or something? I'll give it more thought when I get to it.

It looks like we will find out. The SSD I just installed went belly up and I have a new one arriving Monday. Interesting that the one I was originally having problems with is working fine, I just plugged it in and everything worked. I will try it with only Windows upgrades and see if that works. Also when I put in the new SSD and Windows, I did have to reinstall one copy of WitPAE to get the registry set up right before any other of my game files would work.

Interesting that the one I was originally having problems with is working fine, I just plugged it in and everything worked. I will try it with only Windows upgrades and see if that works. Thanks, that will be helpful. I would like to have a universal installer that makes things "just work" for everybody. Also when I put in the new SSD and Windows, I did have to reinstall one copy of WitPAE to get the registry set up right before any other of my game files would work. That is normal. AFAIK when AE starts it looks in the registry to find the serial number then runs it through it's formula to verify it is valid.

OK guys, installed it and it works but I have no idea how to use it or how to make filters etc work. Maybe it's me being thick.

I'm trying to find out what is/was at a certain base from previous intel reports. Could someone please tell me how?

Having processed the new files then click:
Sigint Report
Untick the date to make it not active
On the base click Edit
Scroll through base list
Enter selected (once you have one selected)
Click Done
You should see the report looking something like this - obviously different base.
Now click Execute Active filters.....
Window will show all Intel for that base

Note the screenshot is BEFORE I apply the filter

Got it. Didn't realise 'Execute Active Filters & Sorts' was a button.

Starting active work on Intel Monkey. These are the tasks I have first up for the moment; some are internal and don't matter to you or won't mean anything. Some might, and more importantly you might have other things you've noticed that need fixing or tidying up. Let me know if you have anything to add.
- Bug: Battle Number seems to be starting over whenever new turns processed.
- Pick up and report collisions during combat.
- Pick up and report Oil hits and Refinery hits.
- Naval Bombardments not consistently picking up all hits.
- Some J LCU picked up as A.
- LCU making paratroop shock attacks not picked up.
- Apply check & fix for same-day sync bug.
- Apply selected area display fix to messages area main screen.
- Add option to the installer to make a shortcut.
- Add a title to the installer.
- Add automatic check of witploadAE.exe version number.
- Gracefully handle mismatch of Heading versus Field Name Mismatch.
- Add a userconfig item to set logging debug mode?
- Sort out log files cleanup routine: manual? auto? auto how?
- Add SigInt use of LCU, air, and group config info.
- Consolidate and report lcu lookup no hits.
- Add procedure to add user understood exceptions to info DB data.
- Add withdrawal dates to ship info.
- Look into database being locked from creating new after processing files and viewing reports.
- Standardize hybrid method calls for menus + listboxes in pick lists.
- Catch up on doc strings.

Adding a couple of items to that list:
- Change default filters/sorts on all reports to last day.
- Change default filters/sorts on SigInt report to filter last day, sort: 1-Base; 2-MapHex; 3-Activity; 4-Subject.

I am finally getting back to you on this. Yes, I did a reinstall of Windows 7 today and after the 1 million updates, I tried IM and it worked fine. So it would appear that you do have to do all of the updates and then IM will work.

FYI. Just downloade and tried to install Intel Monkey. McAfee says it has the following virus: RealProtect-LS!3F03C316A382.

It does not have any virus. Try running Windows Defender on it.

I certainly also would dump McAfee.

In case it eases your mind, I ran a full scan with Windows Defender. Intel Monkey is fine.

What you experienced is a false positive, which is very common. I stopped using another well known anti-virus because of that, it zapped my own software right off of my system. Many of them incorporate rules which are too broad. Lately most of the 3rd party tool development is oriented only toward businesses even though they sell to individuals too. The problem with that is they make it cumbersome or impossible to add exceptions for things you know are OK, because administrators in large organizations use special utilities to add those.

Dumped McAfee, loaded the monkey, added config info and let it run. Ended up with this:
Heading versus Field Name Mismatch
Heading: WpnDevID
Field Name: MaxDivingDepth

Suggestions??

Did you import the scenario data? What scenario are you using?

It would pay to look through the documentation page on the web site again pretty carefully because Roger helped me word some things better than I would have on my own. If I try to recreate that here it won't be as helpful.

Let's go back and forth on this and we should be able to get it sorted out for you.

Also, check and make sure you have the latest version of witploadae.exe (see that doc for details). If you use the old version it will not export some of the fields and that might lead to the error you mentioned.
