September 7th, 1941 Axis capture Leningrad! German Forces March into Leningrad.

Image

I'm a bit curious about these messages, both in terms of the 3 divisions being stood down twice (dupe message, or was a 2nd corp supposed to be notified too); along with the intended impact. Freezing out 3 of ~18 divs while letting the rest go across the old stop lines fairly limited as a way to hold the Finns back; and arguably leaves the Finns in a worse position later in the war if the Axis barely manages to take Lenningrad but otherwise has a mostly historical level of advance. With the stop line already a house rule I'd've been tempted to just add a second requiring the Finns to park divisions in X, Y, and Z as garrisons unless/until they were threatened with imminent recapture by the Soviets.

The player has four turns to move divisions where he wants until freeze. I have decided to put divisions in a line from Leningrad to East along Neva. If the front line ever goes back to Leningrad those divisions are already in place defending Neva line. I believe divisions are relieved again if attacked by Soviets?

I think it's realistic to take out 3 divisions for guard duty. Leningrad had a population of 3400000 about the same as whole Finland.

Thank you for that factoid.......I did not know that. I'll keep that in mind.

Situation on 9/14/41 after 25 turns.

Leningrad is captured. The first Barbarossa objective is completed. What next?

The next objective is Moscow. There are two attack plans. Plan Green and Plan Yellow.

Plan Yellow was chosen. The attack will begin on 17th of September (Turn 26).

Turns 27 and 28, 9/20/41-9/24/41 AGN

The enemy is attacking hard against our left flank near Volkhov. Finnish 2nd Division arrived frontline on September 20th. After just two days the division had to retreat with 60% losses. Nine Soviet rifle divisions participated in the battle. 6th Panzer Division had to take care of the situation.

SS Totenkopf is boarding train near Kolpino.

I have begun entrenching second defense line along Volkhov River.

Turn 30, 10/1/41 AGC

Operation Leberwurst

Donnerwetter! Railhead has moved only 10 km in the last two weeks. There has been four bautruppen, but they can’t fix the damn rail! Supply on the frontlines is in single digits.

7th Flieger Division jumped near Kalinin. They captured the city and blew crucial railway bridge over Volga.

In the middle 3rd Panzer Armee was not able to advance because the lack of supplies.

The enemy is attacking hard near Kaluga. 10th Motorized was not able to hold Kaluga. The Division become disorganized and suffered 30% casualties. Looks like we can’t advance beyond Oka river.

More reinforcements arrive.

This is exciting ! You are only 60km away from Moscow but Rasputitsa is only few weeks around the corner. How are your losses and replacement so far after Leberwurst? Winter is coming soon but looks like the Reds are also out of troops

Nice AAR !
