Elmer is very unlikely to make the necessary defensive withdrawals you mention as sensible actions. It's decent if it has relatively straight cohesive front, but once salients are formed it starts losing it's ability. The AI is a more effective in attacking - and counterattacking when in a defensive position with available reserves. You've so out maneuvered the AI I can see the end in sight with those pockets you are forming. Any challenge will soon fade. Of course it might be an opportune time to play both sides and help the AI by pulling back like a human player would. But it's your game....thanks for your AARs.

Glad you are enjoying the AAR. It has been a fun game so far. Hopefully, the Germans will make some interesting moves...

Well, the Germans surprised me by continuing to attack North of Caen and they got another double turn. The weather is overcast, but the Mulberry Harbours are partially restored and my supply situation is improving.
