RE: BTS Play-Testing
Did some serious work prior to Easter Dinner.
Michael and I have had several chats over the last few months about Kates and launching them. Shattered Sword makes a pretty big deal about issues with Kates taking of from Kaga's massive deck. In keeping with that issue we kept coming back to the CVL's being smaller yet still maintaining a serious Kate punch.
One of the suppositions we have embraced in the Yamamoto side of this Mod is that the Japanese realize early on that the proper CarDiv should be 2 CV--1 CVL. The CVL serves as a Fighter Heavy unit to buttress the two Strike Carriers with either more Fighters for CAP or for Attack. This is pretty much in keeping with Japanese Fighter philosophy from ZERO!, Reluctant Admiral, Kaigun, Sunburst, and Shattered Sword. Additionally, reflecting the desire to STRIKE FIRST, we created a Recon/Air Search variant of the Kate (Kate 2-C). In addition to the traditional Japanese FP Search aircraft many of the Strike Carriers carry a Shotai of 3 Recon Kates who can 'outdistance' the enemy thru search. Taking the culmination of all this thinking, we come to a re-tooling of the Japanese CVL Air Group composition from its traditional numbers.
Here are the current classes with their 'regular' plane complement:
Ryujo (39 Planes) 21 F and 18 TB
Ryukaku (33 Planes) 18 F and 15 TB
Zuiho (30 Planes) 18 F and 12 TB
Chitose (33 Planes) 21 F and 12 TB
Aso (36 Planes) 30 F and 6 Recon/Air Search
New Complements:
Ryujo (39 Planes) 27 F, 9 TB and 3 R/AS
Ryukaku (33 Planes) 21, F and 12 TB
Zuiho (33 Planes) 21 F, 9 TB and 3 R/AS
Chitose (33 Planes) 21 F, 9 TB and 3 R/AS
Aso (36 Planes) 30 F and 6 Recon/Air Search
Slightly more F improving their CAP/Strike component, less TB reflecting their shorter decks, and an added Recon/Air Search element for spotting the enemy early and at distance...

RE: BTS Play-Testing
Japanese aircraft #619 and #620 have a 100kg bomb listed with a quantity of 0.
The first 3 versions of the N1K have the Ha-45 engine but the last one # 718 uses the Ha-43
is this intended?

RE: BTS Play-Testing
Thank you for all your hard work John dude but one of your zip files has a problem in it. I don't know whether or not to just rename the wps076.dat file or not. Please advise.
EDIT: Nevermind. I just found your post above to ignore it.

RE: BTS Play-Testing
I've been using the same zip folder to send the files and use one file to hold the folder when I load the 11 new ones into it, change the name of the zip, and then pull the hold file. Missed that step on the last email!

Base numbers 619, 963, 825, 827, 836, 828 have VP multipliers of 0 for the Allies, they should probably all be 1.
Base numbers 619 and 963 have VP multipliers of 0 for Japan, 619 should be 10 and 963 should be 2.
I think these were inherited from stock and DBB, might as well fix them here.

USN - CVEs only: no errors found, only one comment:
- AV Kenneth Whiting, St George, Hamlin & Cumberland Sound (AV Tangier Class) are made available with the 3/43 refit, which is correct for the date, but which does not allow conversion to CVE Bogue-class. If the possibility is to be available, the Tangier 3/43 refit could perhaps be a FROM in Bind 412?

Should also include #924 as TO class in bind 412, I think. That would let them upgrade to the proper version.
RE: BTS Play-Testing
Will look into those possibilities. Like continuing the continuity of the conversions.

RE: BTS Play-Testing
It looks like both aircraft #669 and #676 need some work.
#669 is a recon aircraft with only a camera for normal range, but has guns, bombs and no camera for extended range
probably should have only a camera for extended range.
#676 is a level bomber with 20mm guns, radar, mad, camera and bombs for normal range.
but has 7.7mm mg, radar mad and bombs for extended range. And the bombs for extended range are larger that those for normal range. I have no idea how it should be configured.

RE: BTS Play-Testing
Please double check to ensure this was changed....
.US Mark 14 Torpedo: USN Mark 14 torpedo performance has been thoroughly researched, game tested, and subsequently modified (Using the JANAC resource of real maritime losses of Japanese ships in WW2).
The stock profile is %80 dud rate from Dec 1941 through Dec 1942, dropping to %60 dud rate in Jan 1943 to Sep 1943, then becoming the standard (for all torpedoes) %10 dud rate thereafter.
This has been found to be grossly overstated (and mathematically impossible). Research has shown key changes taking place Mar/April1942, and again in 1943.
The new profile is:
Dec 1941-Mar 1942: %80 dud rate
April – Dec 1942: %50 dud rate
Jan – Sep 1943: %30 dud rate
Sep 1943 on : %10 dud rate.
This much more accurately conforms to historical USN Fleet boat performance, (although will still not actually reach historical Mark 14 Torpedo performance) and in-game performance has proven to be closely approximate to historical performance.
Prolonged play-testing has shown that 'in-game' results now vastly more reflect historical results and outcomes

This should have been done, too.
Japanese Aircraft: All Japanese two machine gun fighters (A5M4, KI-27b, KI-43 series) have been given a firepower bonus (Double stock Firepower).

I think this is in my corrections above, not all of the extended weapons were changed, just the normal range ones.
These are supposed to use the 1990 and 1991 MGs, but the effect of these have not been doubled, they are the same
as the stock ones.
