On the central and southern fronts I maul to corps (5 strength) but can't destroy them...

The timetable for Barbarossa is out the window. I hope to take Belgrade next turn but....

In the North Sea I sink a destroyer squadron, but will probably lose a CA and an SS in return.

In the Southern Ocean my CA is finally found by an enemy heavy cruiser squadron.

The action in the north and central areas is light as I need to position my forces. In the south the Japanese take a corps out but can't occupy the position.

Another Chinese corps is dispatched. My mechanised unit creates a bridgehead.

I have a decision to make in China now. The time for war with the US approaches and I haven't made the gains I'd hoped. Last turn I destroyed a corps in the north, and reduced three others, but I feel my strength is running low. But the call has gone out.... no more units will be sent to China...

Elsewhere there is even less to report. I try desperately to get units to the Soviet border so that I can attack next turn but....

....sadly the Soviets beat me to it and declare war. This is a pretty disastrous attempt at making war by the Axis.

Absolute shocker of a turn for the Axis as can perhaps be expected. The Soviets run away but leave blocking units that the Axis struggle to breakdown - and in some cases can't.

The British advance to the Libyan border.

The Japanese make no headway - and are indeed faced with having to withdraw.

... and this turn is just as bad. My only excuse is that this is my first time as the Axis, but even so....

The Japanese assault on China has simply ground to a halt. I don't really understand why some units won't advance and some do. But whatever the reason, I can no longer get the required numbers to take out Chinese units.

In Libya I make a massive mistake. I try and land an Italian Corps in Tobruk but it won't enter the hex. As a result the port if empty for the enemy to walk into and I have an unprotected transport laden with troops at sea....

You can't both move into and unload in a port in the same turn unless it is at port strength 5 or greater. Tobruk is at 2.

One suggestion, from someone who botched the Axis effort in North Africa in a game about a year ago due in large part to supply mismanagement - you should have at least one of your HQs in a supply source (e.g., Benghazi) to serve as a "booster" HQ to boost the supply capability of the other Axis HQ.

The snows falls and the Germans are stuck....

In the desert Tobruk falls for nothing.

1941 and the Axis are reaching the end game already.

A better turn in China - the Japanese are getting nowhere around Chungking and so withdraw and look west to a Chinese army that had got over confident. The army is destroyed.

The rest of the turn remains an embarrassment. The Soviets are firmly entrenched behind river lines and the snow stops any meaningful attacks anyway.

In the desert I don't have enough units to even take back Tobruk.

As with the USSR, so with the US - the US enter the war before I can launch an attack - painful is not the word.....

Nothing happening in China.

[:D] - It looks like the USN has left Hawaii.... I also didn't realise I couldn't sail after loading an Amph... Each turn just get's better for the Axis.

In better news - I've taken Tobruk that I should never have lost in the first place!

The snows continue to hamper the Axis in Russia.

In the Med the Allies pull back and the Germans and Italians can't pursue as they need to make good their losses.

In Japan the bunting is rolled out.... I've taken Hong Kong..and have at least landed in the PI....
