Bases assaulted today: Donggala

The xAP torpedoed yesterday at Tulagi was hit twice more and sunk!

We lost a mid-sized TK to a Dutch sub at Miri.

The Allied survivors of Rabaul wandered into Gasmata and were wiped out by attrition.

In the Aleutians, a Japanese ASW TF was wiped out by an Allied heavy cruiser TF near Adak.

All Japanese carriers are currently in port for repairs, but except for Kaga will be ready for action in a few days.

Bases assaulted today: Manokwari

An AMC and DD fast transport TF delivered part of a JNAF to Umnak before is was sunk by SBDs flying out of Cold Bay. Our feeble 4 Zero LRCAP was insufficient to stop them. But, with more engineers on Umnak, we'll EVENTUALLY get a level 1 airfield to accommodate Zeroes for CAP. I'm guessing Jakes on CAP won't be much good.

CV Kaga arrived at Yokohama and will require 92 days in the shipyard to repair 14 flotation and 21 engine damage.

CV Lexington was reported sunk (it was damaged in the Aleutians back on Jan 27; see post #67), but email intel leads me to believe this new report is fog of war.

Captured only 2 days later than historical, which can be expected since I played Malaya close to historically.
Unfortunately, resource, light industry, and heavy industry are all trashed to 1. The repair shipyard was totally trashed to ZERO. LI will be repaired to 10 (yeah, I know, it's a waste of supply); HI will be repaired to about 20; and the RSY to at least 30.

Five Brit CLs bombarded Tavoy, doing very little damage; then one of our subs put a torpedo in CL Danae leaving.

Your losses might have been worse had he not put the slow (25 kt.) Adelaide in the TF. Your TF probably broke away earlier because of that.

Having determined that CV Kaga would require 143 days in the Tokyo shipyard, it will move to Kobe via a coastal route with substantial escort.

Ha-43 engines advanced research from Sep to Aug '45; Ha-44 engines advanced research from May to Apr '43.

The area around Changsha in China has been static as we await the arrival of the 22nd and 15th Divisions at Pingsiang. The Chinese units one hex east of Changsha have been retreated to Changsha, but one unit has moved back into this hex to again block the advance into Changsha. I'll grind them down one corps at a time, if that what he offers!

Elements of 5th Division at Singapore began loading transports for northern (western) Sumatra. Two carrier divisions are ready to depart Georgetown to suppress Allied air power in southern Burma. 4th and 18th Divisions will follow from Singapore as transports become available.

In the South Pacific, 1st Division is resting at Rabaul while it prepares to take Milne Bay; 16th Division is on transports that had been diverted toward Wake Is. just in case, and is now headed for Buna while somewhat prepared for Port Moresby.

Wake Is. and Singapore were cleared of mines.

Feb 22, 1942

It sounded like 2 Allied ships somewhere hit mines (combat report shows it was 2 different PT boats, both at Milne Bay; one of them was later sunk by a Betty from 20,000 feet).

CV Kaga has arrived at Kobe and will require 90 days in the shipyard (4 system, 13 flotation, 21 engine damage). Seems long to me, but what do I know?

At Pingsiang, forts were reduced to zero -
