A better scoring system.

Instead of just winning or losing, we could get a score at the end, for example if I barely win my score might be something like +100. Or barely lose, -135. Bigger victories/losses, bigger numbers. Would give use a reason to give more effort/complete games even after vicotry or loss is certain.

And while it's not my thing, it would help those that want some sort of ranked play or tournaments.

How about a Sudden Death victory condition? Like if Germany takes, for example,, Stalingrad, Moscow, and Leningrad,,London, Cairo. Something like that. Your idea of points is good, it would turn the game into a bloodfest. It is something to thhink about.

An option for weekly turns built into the game would be nice [:)]

Weekly turns would mess up production and movement...though possible you would need to halve everything.

Could be done in a scenario...so maybe a scenario that had weekly turns.

I apologize about the rant in the above post. I realize you guys are trying to improve the game. Again my apologies.

Ron

No worries. I apologize as well. I happen to think Warplan is the finest design of a strategic WW2 game available and I am very happy to be able to play. I did not intend at all to make reference to the entire strategic air war but only to point something out about how much detail a game on this scale chooses to use. I didn't want to get into a debate about how effective the strategic air campaign and terror bombing were overall.

I agree that Wages of Destruction is an important book about the failure of the Third Reich's war economy and I read it as well. I have read about the strategic air war some also.

I realize now that my comments are not welcome by others on the forum and the designer so, I will stop. I was not trying to pick a fight. All games have strengths and weaknesses. All games get better over time if the designer chooses to improve them and Warplan continues to get better and better.

My input was well-intentioned, really.

Do not stop commenting...all have merit, good and bad.

Without the comments people could miss things and the game would never get improved without people stating what they feel are important or potential issues.

Maybe not possible and pure fantasy on my part, but I always thought it would be neat to be able to take a more detailed scenario North Africa for example and take the results of that and transfer them over to the main game. Say you captured Egypt in 41 as Axis in NA scenario you could play 41 campaign starting with axis controlling Egypt

Don't want a reduced Europe map scale due to the inclusion of the world.

It's going to be the same scales as WPE and WPP just like World in Flames.

Making Pacific larger makes it unplayable.
Making Europe smaller loses the fun IMO. It changes the game to AH's Third Reich.

Regarding convoys, I would like that there is a clear distinction between merchant marines for production points and tankers for oil points. See Malta, UK and Japan historical problems.

Also, for manpower reinforcement, for units in Port Supply, I would like a real usage of transports.

Oh yes please. The Indian Ocean must represented. Perhaps the Europe map and the Pacific map should be linked there. But, most probably, this will create a scale problem.

Can we have German raider ships/subs in Indian Ocean or is it not the scale?

What I can tell you from World in Flames games these two areas and pretty meaningless. They are just a tedious section of the game. I have played many World in Flames games.

Perhaps for PBEM, it would be great to play with five players in WP2.

One USA/UK/France
One USSR
One Germany/Italy
One China
One Japan

A log of each game/turn, even if very basic. Could be processed for AARs/statistics afterwards.
