We fire the 4 mech guy, I forget his name - despite having only victories and no defeats.

I do like the crisp look of the map here, but does it have roads too?

I have them off as the soviets usually, but yes it does. I don't know if they differ from the base game though.

Seems alright to me. None of the maps were correct at the time by all accounts anyway :)
Where are the files from can I ask?

Turn 12: 1st guards division has spawned.

I shall be updating less frequently unless something interesting happens - until my winter offensive begins.

After discussion I convinced Nekronion to call it. I think he would've lost sudden death anyway.

We are starting a new game, and I'll probably just keep it in this thread. [&o]

I suggest you wait for the v1.01.15 public beta that may go out as soon as tomorrow. It has some important data changes as well as code changes. That is if you like using public betas.

This game wasn't remotely close, and his supply network was very very bad. Practically every unit at the front in the South was on 30% odd supply, or less, and his Panzers weren't getting fuel to do anything.

I would've broken out of Crimea, naval invaded Odessa, and generally routed his entire southern flank.

Without knowing any of the changes, you've certainly piqued my interest though.

From what I saw they look really good on the BETA forums :) I did not try it out though.

I just realised that you meant to wait for the beta as I was starting a new game with him, not saying that the beta would be impactful on this particular game. Oops.

Unfortunately he's already started, but I'm delaying starting another game to wait for it.

So this turn 1 seems MUCH cleaner, in terms of pockets, than in the previous game. Centre has been thoroughly routed. Is that good or bad though? Those units will be up much faster to delaythe german advance.

He was very cautious around Lvov, opting to instead go for a more northern push. The Southern front has not activated.

Nekronion is also in a position to break the Dnepr really early on, which is very concerning.

Hopefully it'll be a more competitive game, and I have given what limited advice I could on helping his logistics not be so bad.

It is a good thing for you. Regarding the Dnepr, you can use the routed units to delay there. So while he will take the Dnepr, he will use more MP/attacks/supply in the process, and lose more Panzers in the extra attacks, and have CPP going down. CPP goes down just as much attacking a shitty routed unit as it does attacking a good quality unit (which seems sort of unrealistic actually, but that is how it is, and is part of the reason why pocketing as many units as possible seems important for Germany).

You can also set all the routed units on low TOE and then you can sacrifice them if needed without losing many additional men. In practice, what that means is they will just rout again, and then you can rinse-repeat. And then pretty soon it will be winter.

Indeed, that's what I was thinking about after seeing it. We'll see how it works.

No more major pockets, though he did encircle what was left in Lvov. I think I broke the majority of it out though.

The analogy that comes to mind for me is, "One step forward, three steps back" when I look at this snapshot. If the Germans can't securely pocket units why try it? Why rush forward only to be cut off? Self inflicted wounds, like this, will fester and turn into something worse the more turns this is done.

WITE1 tactics don't work well in WITE2 with Soviets easily able to counter attack. As the saying goes, "Generals always fight the last war" is being done here and many other games I have seen. The lessons will be learned at the cost of Germans getting their butts handed to them patch or no patch.

The Dnepr is sadly thoroughly broken. Worrying! As is the Pskov river.

I free my units in the Centre after yeeting a panzer division with the building up armored forces. Unfortunately i don't think this will be repeated very much.
