SITUATION REPORT, JAN 31 1942.

Loss of Singapore before historical time was big blow for Allies. It put both Sumatra and Burma into danger, now it's race of getting competent troops into Burma. Unfortunately most Allied units in Burma are 2nd or 3rd rate, especially Burmese units.

Same in Sumatra, Dutch troops are marching to Palembang (which is regularly bombed and that stops increasing fortification), so big question is, can they get there in time before invasion?

Java should be safe (for now), having been boosted with 18th UK Div and 8th AUS Div (which unfortunately has lots of disabled squads). At least their experience and moral are decent and have decent commanders. There is sizable surface force in Soerabaja, that will be used against invasions, despite IJN CVs lurking around.

Rest of DEI is...SOL (shit out of luck). There is nothing much I can do about them.

Philippines is also beyond saving (obviously). I have started to withdraw some air assets from there and sending pilots into reserve.

And something that seems to happen to me in every game...Boyington from AVG is KIA.

Allies have exactly one useful capital ship in inventory right now (after PoW ate torpedo), that is BC Repulse. There is also BB Royal Sovereign in Aden, but I have less than meager trust about ship's usefulness.

On brighter side, CV Yorktown and CV Enterprise are on their way to SW Pacific. I desperately need air power projection near Port Moresby to ensure that reinforcements get there.

It looks certain that you sank Hyuga, if the 4 torpedo hits were correctly ID'd on the same ship. That's a great outcome. Let's hope Ise sticks around for a dose of the same!

Awesome AAR ! Really enjoying it. Thanks for the excellent insights on everything. Very interesting IMHO.

I am working on a mod to the Grand Campaign myself. However it is a KayBay mod so it will be insane. But I think I will enjoy fighting the beast I am creating. It will probably destroy me. I typically like running the Allies in all of GG's games as they are so detailed. But I like the Allies perspective. I love the powerful Editor in this game. Lets me really create with my mind.

This is a fantastic game, it's extremely hard, but I LOVE IT !!

Things got lot more interesting in this game than I expected.

Mainly that is because of "cluster-duck" in Malaya, where 1 Indian Division and 1 brigade suddenly collapsed in Johore Bahru. That caused Singapore to fall way early. I might have avoided that disaster if I had gotten that second brigade there in time... Alas, in this AI script, IJA tank units rolled down Malaya very aggressively and managed to overtake that brigade (that is still putting up a fight and cutting supply route to north).

Pulling out 2 brigades of 8th AUS Div is always a risk...this time it went badly. But in this game with different strategy, I do need that division in Java.

Malaya disaster also caused problems in Burma and I had to take quite a gamble that I was able to get 6th AUS into Rangoon just in time. Even now situation is bit...iffy. There are more reinforcements slogging through jungle, but obviously it's slow going.
