Merry Christmas

Thanks asl3d for continuing to post these nice scenarios.
Those Normandy battles sound fun gathering platoons together to tour the quaint French towns and trade some fire with the Germans.

I will do another story tomorrow. Was going to do a Christmas story but have to go out for the evening. I will get back to the war tomorrow.

Welcome back to the war.
I'm pleased to announce that I'm working on a new format for infantry units, which, if all goes well, will first appear in 2026.
The idea is to design infantry units as a top-down view, similar to how vehicles and artillery are viewed.
In the attached image, you can see a squad of Panzergrenadiers, reinforced by a squad of Second Line Rifles from the Wehrmacht, escorting a Panzer IV. Facing this assault group is an American squad of Conscript Rifles and a half-squad of Second Line Rifles.
The strength of each infantry unit can be determined by the number of soldiers in the unit. Nine soldiers define elite and First Line units, eight soldiers define Second Line units, and seven soldiers make up the least experienced units. The same applies to half-squads, which have six, five, and four soldiers respectively.
I'm still in the testing and design phase, so if the project does move forward, the new infantry units will first appear in the next scenario pack for Advanced Heroes and Leaders Collection, which will have the "suggestive" title of Normandy....

That is a very big change. I do prefer the original artistic view of the soldiers, but there is some practical value in see the number of soldiers representing the squad size an status and also the new style might be appealing to other players. I will trust your judgement on how do you do the infantry counters. I like the side view because I can see the nice uniforms and weapons and stuff so I value my little infantry units.

In your last Aftermath information panel, it has a typo in the last sentence "pulling German troops away from the bench" I think bench should be beach. Otherwise very interesting information as-per-usual.

Well, it's still possible to see the silhouette format of the infantry units. If you hover your mouse over any unit, it will flip to its information format, revealing its main combat characteristics.

In the attached image, you can see the silhouettes of the Panzergrenadier unit when you hover the mouse cursor over it.

Something is better than nothing!

Regarding the typo, it was indeed an error. I've already corrected it. Thank you very much for your help.

Regards,

oh good we can still see the nice unit cards by hovering the mouse. That is better for me.

I am trying to remember another game that looks like that new style with the collection of helmets showing the squad. Maybe it was the old game Steel Panthers.

Good to see your new mod pack is ready. I like Normandy battles - small but tactical in picturesque French countryside.
