Troops/supplies etc.

By my recon you have 90k troops at Johore Bharu. I have 40k at Singapore - but I have size 6 fort - you probably have enough to do it.

I just spent many many political points one evacuating various aircraft squadrons, and reassigning many leaders (mostly squadron leaders). Too many careful old men i had to replace with younger, lower ranked, but more aggressive leaders. Put some fighter pilot leaders in a bomber squadron to experiment, and some bomber pilots into fighter squadron leading positions fora while. See how that goes.

Mog bombed singapore this turn. If he does that for two weeks, he'll still be on his deadline and taking singapore will cost him a lot less in terms of soldiers (he's using sonias so he can afford to loose them). My AA claimed a few.

Operations Hug-A-Banana-Today, Hug-A-Banana-Tomorrow and Farting-Weasel were all launched today under top secret security. I estimate seven to ten turns for completion of the first two, and ten to thirty for completion of the latter. Stay tuned!

I'm trying to envision a DD, bombing along at 30+ knots at night, with a trained military crew firing weapons, getting hit 16 times by a bunch of transports doing 6 or 8 knots.

I know, I know, it's the "engine", but it still bothers me.

BTW - any of you "well-booked" folks out there have info on what sorts of armaments were on Japanese transports in late '41? Were many of the transports that were used early in the war dedicated military transports? How many converted commercial ships did the Japanese use, and were they armed?

Thanks -

LOL 16 hits means she was not hit more then once by all the transports . Also a hit from a 25mm AA gun shows up as a gun hit. (If she had been hit 16 times by the 3in to 5in on the transports she would have sunk) (The DD was already damaged before the fight started)

Repulse has a bit of a leak . . . However it exposed the nasty truth that I had her sitting at palembang waiting for mogs transports - that never came. So the minute she slipped out of port she drives over a submarine. Thunderstorms in the area however so likely that she will manage to escape.

I guess on reflection although the RN is tangling with the escorts and coming off best they arent actually achieving the primary mission which was to blow up the transports before they unloaded. So I gues the Japanese screen is doing its job just at great cost.

I must admit I always hated in Pac war the way i never really got to do much with POW and Repulse so its interesting to see the threat posed to the landings even if only because they are dragging a thunderstorm around behind them on a leash [:D]
