Also meant to mention a few other points.

KB is 2 days out from Saigon now. As such 150 various ships have been sortied out of Saigon harbour to form surface combat and transport TF's. In total 12 LCU's will be boarding from tomorrow. These are a mixture of combat units, base forces and engineers for Palembang, Teloekbetoeng, Singkep Island, Medan and Bangkha. All targets for Operation Summer storm.

Also formed are 3 surface combat groups -

1. Fuso/Yamashiro + cruisers/destroyers - Bombardment for Palembang.
2. Kongo + cruisers/destroyers - Bombardment for Medan and Bangkha
3. CA/CL/DD - surface protection group for Palembang.

They will all hopefully sail within 3 days.

Singapore's airfields will be subjected by air attack from Khota Bharu starting tomorrow. It should not pose a problem.

Bataan - All land units have reached Bataan. Bombarding for a few days and then we attack.

Rangoon - both divisions bombarding. Will attack in a few days.

I also have a little operation in motion in the South Pacific. With attention focussed on the SRA. BB's Hiei, Kirishima, 4 CA's + 6 DD's are to sail from Truk to Rabaul to refuel and then onto Cairns to shell the place. Map intel reveals ships in port and planes on the airfield. I doubt Werner sill expect this. I also doubt he has heavy air assets in place. If i'm spotted on the way down i'll move back to Rabaul. Basically i'm keeping this group in the region to protect it along with Nell's and Zero's at Rabaul.

Better hope he doesn't have a lot of coastal defences there, Speedy. They can make mincemeat of your bombardment group, and even if they don't sink your ships, they can damage them, so they can't get far enough away in time to avoid air strikes. But of course, you've already considered that! [;)]

Hi Terminus,

I know. I plan to NOT use the escorts for bombardment. From memory there shouldn't be a helluva lot around Australia at this point in time.

Hi all,

A fairly disappointing turn. I was hoping to bag Hermes and more of the Allied ships that had ventured near Singakawang. Only a limited number of planes took off to strike 2 retreating enemy TF's and the only damage reported was by 98th Heavy Sentai. They report hitting the Destroyer Pope with 2 x 250KG bombs leaving her on fire and down by the stern a little. Hopefully she will succumb to her wounds. Every ship counts! I have moved an I-Boat on a projected intercept course between her and Soerabaja.

Other than that just mopped up a few more bases in SRA and around New Britain.

Werner puleld a nice move by sneaking in 6 PT's into Tarakan harbour damaging 3 AP's there. Only 1 of them has the potential of sinking though. I have ordered my Zero's to arm with bombs and find the little buggers tomorrow. Same at Singakawang with the PT's based at Pontianak.

Bombings took place at Singapore, Bataan and Rangoon. An attack has been ordered on Bataan tomorrow. My main army should arrive in Singapore tomorrow all being well.

Almost all the troops necessary for operation Summer Storm have been loaded on transports. KB will arrive in Saigon tomorrow, take on fuel and sail with my invasion fleets bound for Sumatra.

Interestingly. Mini KB which moved near to Timor to intercept the Allied convoy found nothing. Recon has found the suspected convoy in Darwin harbour. I have taken a risk and ordered mini-KB to close within strking distance of Darwin. Target: any TF's.

I've attached a screenshot of the Western SRA.

Hi all,

A good day for the empire.

Mini-KB didn't find transports at Darwin just 2 MSW's and an ML which were despatched to the bottom of the ocean. ML Rigel exploded into fragments after 1 torpedo hit amidships. Interestingly recon found a further TF at the port west of Darwin (Broome?) Mini KB will proceed there tomorrow to investigate.

Good news on the ground too. Both Singapore and Bataan should fall within days [:)] Both were attacked today with fairly favourable results. I'm very happy at how i've manged to divide his forces on Malaya and the Phillipines. He has not been able to mass all of his men at 1 place for a strong stand.

Swift tried to sneak some PT's into Kendari. After his foray at Tarakan yesterday I was prepared for this and the little gnats were blown to pieces by battleships, cruisers and destroyers.

Frustranginly a PBY spotted Hiei and Kirishima + change nearing the tip of New Guinea. I've cancelled the planned bombardment of Cairns now surprise has been lost. They will return to Rabaul to protect the area.

Opeation Summer Storm has been launched. Troops are on the transports, ships fuelled, guns armed. In total over 130 ships are involved in 12 TF's. I should reach Palembang within a week. Singkep Island will be the first to fall. Shuzan NG unit and 4th Engineer regiment are tasked with taking this.

I've attached a screenshot of the summary page. Almost 1/2 of The Allied ship points come from the loss of PoW and Enterprise.

Summer Storm has set sail! You'll see where the fleet curently is on the screenshot. Another 5 TF's are loading up in Saigon with backup stuff.

Landings have taken place at Macassar. Hopefully will fall tomorrow. Bataan was attacked again and again today. The defenders have retreated to Corregidor. Will hopefully be taken tomorrow.

My men have rested partially at Singapore. A concerted attack will be put in tomorrow.

A bombardment group headed for Balikpapan was attacked by a few blenheims one of which put a bomb into Amatsukaze causing 73/5/21 damage! [X(]

Mini KB found a TF at Wyndham but it was unfortunately only a PG and MSW. They were rapidly despateched to the watery depths. Mini-KB will retire to Kendari to re-stock.

Bataan falls!

Post by Speedysteve »

Hi all,

Bataan falls and 17000 Allied men are marched into Captivity. Excellent.

Macassar was also captured.

Attacks at Singapore didn't reduce the fortification levels but did cause more Allied casualties than mine. I have ordered 2 more divisions from Johore to march down. I have encountered ANOTHER warping division - the 18th which warped before but I appeared to save it has now gone walkies again. [:@] I have said to Swift that if it happens to a 3rd division in the SRA we will have to put an end to this game and restart.

The attack at Rangoon falied and the LBA at Moulmein won't attack the enemy land units for some reason.

Interestingly the returning mini KB found an AK + escprts at Koepang. Interesting. I'm now heading west to the south of Timor to attempt to intercept it.

Summer Storm is still in progress and has not been spotted yet. Interestingly I notice he has ships in Batavia harbour. I may send KB down there when I near Palembang to attempt to sink some ships.

Hi all,

Operation Summer Storm is proceeding as planned........I believe he may have spotted me nowbut i'm not concerned. I have carriers and 3 battleships protecting the fleet. PoW is sunk and Repulse should be heavily damaged somewhere. All he will have is Martin, Hudsons, TVIa's, cruisers, destroyers and PT's. They will not stop me from taking Sumatra.

I have decided to alter the plan slightly. See screenie in next post for info.

Fairly uneventful day with action in southern SRA. I shelled Balikpapan and sunk 2 pesky PT's. Werner attempted to sneak PT's into my transports at Macassar but he doesn't seem to understand that nowadatys I will almost always have escorts with my fleets. Nagato and Mutsu swamped the little lice.

Good news. Mini-KB is just SW of Timor and the fleet that was bombed yesterday was hit again but not by mini-KB (weather socked them in) but by Nells from Kendari. The airfield is active and the whole southern region is now under their command. 2 x PG's and AK Don Jose were blown to pieces. Mini KB will scout a bit further west for a day or 2 in the vain attempt of finding more ships. She'll then return to Kendari.

Hi all,

Here is the updated plan for Summer Storm. Werner appears to have ships docked at Batavia. I want to sink whatever is there. KB will proceed at full speed tomorrow to 120 miles east of Batavia and attempt to bomb the port if no TF's are found. There are a lot of active airfields in the region so a lot of cap is assigned (50%) and a Zero Daitai at Singkawang will fly LRCAP. A further Zero Daitai will cover the invasion and surface combat fleet that sails to Palembang.

The fleet broke up today with the Singkep invasion force steaming ahead. The Bankha fleet sailed off to the Norrth-West.

Tomorrow should hopefully see some successful action.

Hi all,

Well Werner evacuated Batavia just before KB arrived. I don't know whether that was coincidence or whether he was tipped off. As a precaution I won't be disclosing a lot of future plans in here for a time.

I still managed to bag a trio of destroyers near Soerabaja. Intel reports a lot of TF's in Soerabaja.

I think the Batavia port lot have gone west since a sub put fish into an MSW and reported another TF 180 miles west of Batavia. I wonder what is in them.

The invasion of Singkep has started. 2 Allied units are reported. Hopefully will fall tomorrow.

A hectic days action around Java.

I was moist surprised to find 2 ships in the area. Firstly, Hermes which was pounded west of Java by a reported 22 bombs [X(] and Revenge which took part in a series of night actions off Macassar.

The night action was unexpected on my part and was fairly even. I sank a CL and another reported on heavy damage. I only have 1 ship in dire straits. The Destoyer Wakatake is likely to sink on 60/30/25. The rest of my ships are fine. Couple of cruisers on 19 sys damage.

KB. Was most surprised to find Hermes. I moved her to find the transports that were attacked yesterday.

Mini-KB foundrevenge but her B5N's wee just out of range for torpedo attack.

I am closing both north and south of Java off to trap as many ships as I can.

Hi all,

Some success today but not as much as I was hoping for. Bad weather socked in both Kuching and Kendari in both the morning and afternoon. KB was socked in in the morning. In the afternoon Yamaguchi decided to unleash a near full strike on a transport TF west of Java. 5 of the transports were left heavily damaged. Confirmed reports of at least 2 sinking. All ships were empty. Every ship sunk helps me though.

Mini KB was disappointing today. The commander will receive a talking to when he returns to base. Eventually a strike was launcged against a warships TF. The CL Marblehead was blown to pieces. The 2nd torpedo hit apparently touching off a magazine. No news of where Revenge is.

I hope for better weather tomorrow and hopefully the G3M's can get in on the act.

Werner not surprisingly sent his PT's to Palembang. I was expecting this and Kongo + escorts wiped the floor with the little buggers.

Other positive news. The AK William S Grove sank today. She ws hit by 2 torpedo's from an I-Boat deep in the pacific ocean well east of PH. I can not imagine a worse way to die.

On land things are disappointing. Singapore is about to be attacked again. But the loss of a division due to warping may be crucial. Same situation in the Phillipines where my men are about to march to Manila. Rangoon is holding out against my 2 division also. The only positive land news is that Palembang should fall tomorrow. Soon to be a base for G3M's [:)]

Revenge sunk

Post by Speedysteve »

Hi all,

A fairly successful day overall. I was surprised that Werner sent Revenge + change to attack shipping at Kendari. I wouldn't expect an opponent to risk capital ships withour CAP against a base in Nell range. He sunk a couple of AP's but Revenge paid for it in the day. 52 Nells and Betties were sent out for Revenge! They reportedly put 7 fish into her within quick succession. The sheer amount of water intaken meant she quickly sunk by the bow.

The worst part of e the day was the IDIOTIC raids by KB on TF's in Soerabaja. WTF is Yamaguchi doing sending UNESCORTED raids. I lost 20 experienced pilots today. I am not hapy with this. I am very tempted to remove Yamaguchi when he returns to port. Not happy at all. All for the hitting of a few more AK's.

My subs performed well today. I have been tracking onto some of swifts convoy routes. Inbetween the West Coast of America and PH an AS was tagged by a fish. Hope she doesn't make it. Also good news. The TK Gulfwing was hit by 2 torpedo's and left burning heavily. I doubt she will survive. The escorts viciously pounced on I-6 getting 2 DC hits. She is returning to port. Hopefully she'll make it.

On the land things are moving again. I attacked Singapore achieving 1-1 odds. Will hopefully fall soon.

Fortifications were also taken at Balikpapan and Palembang.

Hi all,

The Empire had 2 key successes today. Both Balikpapan and Palembang fell today. Planes have landed at Palembang. Aviation support wil be arriving today. There will be support at Balikpapan with 4 days. The reach of Zeros and Nells will stretch nearer and nearer to Java.

KB and mini-KB hit a lot more shipping today which is good. CL Durban, DD Tenedos and 3 AK's were confirmed sunk. I expect a lot more to sink soon. Both KB and mini-KB are retiring to port for fuel and ordinance.

Singapore should fall soon as well which is good. I will send a division and brigade to Burma to help take Rangoon. The other division or 2 will wipe out the Aussies at Mersing and then onto Java.

A lot of shipping is being sunk which I like [:)]

A good day for the Empire! The British bastion of Rangoon falls and I bag 17000 more Allied men.

My subs perform well on convoys between America and the Hawaiian islands. Both the TK and more importantly the AS I hit yesterday were confirmed sunk today. Also the AK Lahaina loaded with supply is hit in the morning by a fish. My sub then waits submerged to see what happens. No escorts! The Captain then surfaced the I-boat and hit the AK with 2 more fish whcih quickly forced the AK to its watery grave.

A division is loaded and en route to west Timor. At the same time a brigade is en route to East Timor. Zero's from Kendari will long range CAP each TF. Mini-KB when refueled at Balikpapan will move south to cover any Allied response.

An update on damaged ships. Atago hit by a dutch sub 3 weeks ago is at 50 sys damage in Hong Kong. Zuikaku is at 25 sys damage repairing in Shanghai, Hiryu is at 37 sys damage at Okayama. Kaga is at 53 sys damage repairing at Maizuru.

Hi all,

A quieter day. Landings take place at Medan and Bankha Island. All is proceeding as planned with Summer Storm so far. Men are now marching from Palembang to the north and south to take over the main part of Sumatra.

It appears Werner has moved ALL shipping from Java now. This is a wise move since if they stay there they will be sunk by Nells from Balikpapan and Palembang or the KB. I did bag 2 more MSW's near Batavia today though.

Men should be ashore on Timor within 2 days. Mini-KB is leaving Balikpapan to support them tomorrow.

No sub attacks today. Come on boys you have only sunk 3 ships in 2 days now [:'(]

Land attacks failed at Singapore (no air attacks due to weather) and at Manila! I'm now feeling the effect of losing a division on Phillipines and Malaya due to 1.6 bug. I hope I will still be able to take these places.
