Cheers but if you want a great AAR check out PZB's and Wobblies books against each other !!!!

I tend to talk to much about my fears (which I blame PZB for......up until that AAR my normal 1st move was to strip India to reinforce Burma !!!!)

Now its all I can do to put up any kind of fight in Burma !!!!

OK I have now reviewed my options and I have made a few decisions.

I will hold at Johore as long as possible at least until the forts start to go down.

I would like to make Pauk either change his preparation or commit BB's.

I will flood the Malacca straight and around Singapore with Dutch and RN subs.

Cat and mouse is still the order of the day around Amboina.

Major TF's 120 miles away but I am holding my light and heavy TF back from the front both are moving NW this turn with my light TF moving to fuel at Kendari.

If he gives me an opportunity I will go for him but I am watching the weather very carefully hoping for a chance.

As long as POW stays alive and afloat she is the most powerfull ship in the area and while backed by Revenge and Repulse actually thats a powerfull experienced fleet.

Revenge and Repulse are both under armoured and have minimal air defence BUT they both have great XP and a decent 15" gun I would happily match them 3 for 3 versus any combination of IJN BB's.

(Although I would want some way to neutralise the IJN CA's as they are almost more dangerous than BB's)

OK a little quiet this turn

My light TF fueled at Kendari and Betties tried to hit it the Dutch Fighters did well and protected the fleet.

Im sending in POW and Revenge to top off their tanks tonight lets hope they get as lucky .... I have reinforced the aircover over Kendari with 4 Wirraways and another 12 Dutch Buffalos.

Apart from that a raid on Akyab put a torp into a fiji class cruiser while the decrepit D class cruser was unharmed

I am withdrawing them to Colombo

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/05/42

Pauk hits Amboina again and bombards with a CL sqn I spot the heavies on there way in so it wont be long until he tries a deliberate attack.

I know that my Martins wont hurt BB's so they are ordered to ground attack but I dont hold out much hope !!!!

In China I lose my 1st city supply is just to low and 3 corps cannot hold agains the onslaught its annoying but not unexpected.

What is annoying is that 3 other corps were on there way but are to slow.

Ahh well

Rangoon will fall soon.

Hang on a minute I could have just screwed up badly.

He only had 25 zeroes on CAP if he had set 50% CAP that would imply I had destroyed virtually all the zeroes on the ground thats impossible he must have had a lot of zeroes there for me to have destroyed 22 on the ground.

Something isnt right the sneaky little Croatian is upta summit......

Could he have thrown away 22 zeroes just to bait a trap for my Heavies.[&:]

My escorts will be tired as will the bombers if he is sitting waitong on me with hundreds of Zeroes this is going to get painfull....

Na he wouldnt throw away Zeroes on bait ?

Would he......

OK now I know im getting paranoid !!!!

I hate sending a turn and waiting 12 hours for the response the suspense is killing [:D][:D][:D]

Remember that recent tests showed that Intel reports on air losses are overstated.
Nobody ever said if it's a bug or a feature, but apparently this bug/feature is more severe with regard to destroyed planes on the ground.
In one PBEM my opponent is reporting the correct number of destroyed planes (he is Japan), in the intel those losses are between 30 to 70% bigger than the one he can check counting the planes before and after (replacements off)

It would be nice if Matrix told us something about it.

Good luck [:)]

OK this is going to be a problem I have severely under estimated the impact of BB bombardments on my defences at Johore the positions is unsustainable.

OK a list of fragments rescued and there destination so far.

Malaya HQ (Madras - Cadre only will form my West Command HQ after the fall of Malaya - III Corps will move to Dacca under East Command at that point)
FMSV Bde (Madras about 300 men all heavily disrupted this Bde was fought out in Malaya so I am evaccing as much of it as I can)
102 RN BF (Madras 500 Men will move to Trivandram under West Command)
108 RN BF (Yanam 400 Men will dig in at Yanam)
43 PS RCT (About 10 Squads still a fragment evacced after being retreated from Naga will move to North Command on anti Paratrooper duty at Lucknow or Delhi)

11 DAF - Madras
12 DAF - Yanam
16 DAF - Trivandram

All full units under West Command when they arrive on fort building duty.

Others

PAF Aviation about 400 men at Darwin
Barisan Regt 50% at Koepang/ 50% Derby
9th DAF Wyndam
109 USAAF/ 112 USAAF/ 118 USAAF (all fragments) at New Caledonia

Given that I dont think that Malaya will last overly long I am moving heavan and earth to reinforce Java ..... I NEED to delay him otherwise India (and possibly Australia) are very vulnerable.

I dont think malaya is going to get it done so I am workong and a mini fortress Soerbijou now to try and win time

The jungle bases at the Burma/India border will hold off all sorts of attacks - don't worry about losing the inland bases. If your opponent tried to get to India via the land route you can "laugh your way to the bank"...

BTW - go back and review PzB vs Wobby and me in regards to using Java as a "distraction" to keep your opponent from taking India... then start moving forces to India "RUSH".

Good luck -

Yeah unfortunately I mad ethe mistake of trying fortress Singapore so at best all I iwll get is Cadres from Malaya. Pauk has played the Malaya campaign extremely well and that makes India vulnerable.

Had I realised I would probably have done a Sir Robin and evacced Malaya Army to Burma or Sumatra or somewhere else.

Instead I burned up trasnports reinforcing Singapore and prepping for Johore but his BB's are putting an end to defence of Johore.

I am digging in at the key points in India Chandpur/ Dacca/ Diamond Harbour/ Madras/ etc but I am short of engineers and Infantry

Now itaint over by a long shot but I misread Pauks intention and committment to Malaya and I got a few Bdes retreated a few to many times.

Ah well will make India or Australia fun !!!!

I will be re readign PZB's conquest.

I am still convinced andf always have been that its stop them on the beaches or retreat to Delhi Ahmabad line mid India is undefendable.

(I am moving the 42nd BG to India to give me 5 full USAAF BG's to help with the defence.)

Extremely nice move at Pagan by Pauk dropping Paras on my head.

But the rest of my army got out of the pocket so Im happy

They are beat up and disrupted but If I can get them to India they will recover.

p.s he hit Medan really hard which was annoying

RE: Operation Alamo

Post by Andy Mac »

I am abandoning the river line and moving my Burma force north of the Irrawady ill try to hang on to Mandalay for a while.

I have came to a hard decision I got very luck with the 1:1 attack on Johore this turn as there was no air bmbardment and the naval attack was weak.

I cannot count on this for long so I am withdrawing to Singapore effective now I want to get the army out into a non malarial base with plesntifull supplies while it still has some power of resistance.

Banda Sea

Post by Andy Mac »

Here is a summary of the position in the Banda Sea.

To date my defence has been based on fleet in being detterant and he did back off originally however he looks to be coming in force now and my problem is I dont know where KB is.

I will send Force Z to fuel at Kendari and then pull them back to Koepang and will skirmish with my CL led Sqns

I have been re working Australia Defences

North Austalia

Derby has the Barisen Regt (50%) and 2 BF's
Darwin - Wyndham has 1 CD, 3 BF (1 Dutch), PAF Aviation (about 5%), and the Darwin Defence Bde

On the rails heading to the North we have 3rd Aus Bde, 4th Aus Div, 5th RAA CD and 6th Cav Bde.

West Australia

1 BF, 2 CD, 13th Inf Bde.

Now I have 3rd Aus Div and 3rd Arm Regt are heading to Perth when they get there I will detach one CD unit and the 13th Inf Bde to cover Derby

The rest of the Australian Army is concentrating at Charter Towers or Sydney roughly 50:50

These are temp deployments until I know what I get from DEI and PI to help.

VICTORY AT SEA.......FORCE Z STRIKES BACK

Post by Andy Mac »

These are the turns that allies live for in the early game....

Force catches a light surface TF near Kendari (ill need to edit my previous post to make it look like I meant it !!!!....no no Force Z wasnt just going to refuel it was really out to ambush IJN TF's.......)

2 Rounds of Combat was a little worried by the two hits on POW but she is only 15 sys damage and can make 19 knots.

Houston may sink not sure 69 sys and float

But I sank a CL and about 5 DD's maybe 6 so thats a real result and has to set his timetable back for Kendari !!!!

In other news my LRCAP shot down numerous transports over Pagan a little late but better late than never !!!

Also I am withdrawing to Singapore Johore is undefendable in the face of naval bombardments.

But overall a morale lifting victory at sea !!!!

A final little titbit of info

Before that Battle night xp

POW 66
Revenge 79
Repulse 71
Canberra 40

After the battle night xp

The rest of the RN ships hardly moved but 10 - 20 points per Aussie and US ship is not to be sneezed at as it brings them that little bit closer to RN experience levels !!!!

Yea, surface combat gives you a nice bunch of exp when it's intensive and you sink a bunch of ships. Musashi was 65/71 before the Koepang battles, and was 83/85 on the day before she was sunk. That was two or three nights of surface battles in a row. [:D]

But something tells me that you shouldn't push your luck with the BB's from now on, pauk managed to slow your big guns down, and imho they should be pulled back and only your fast cruiser forces should stay to harass, losing them wouldn't be such a pain as would be the loss of PoW or heavy damage to it, which would put it out of action for a long time.
