So now you have 2 weeks for plotting & scheming devious plans. [:)]
Care to share some ideas? R U gonna listen to my suggestion, or have another juicy operation in mind? Or maybe just settle with what you have and start digging in?
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage.

Still very busy days around here so I'll just provide a quick update for the last 3-4 turns!

In India more transports have arrived at Karachi and continues to move troops back to Singapore. A few Allied straggler units have tried to
infiltrate my bases, but I got a regiment in most of them and has been able to dispatch of them.

My troops are now marching towards Colombo while my battleships and bombers continues to reduce the defenders.
This got a double purpose since several large troop convoys are sailing past the island now. In only a few weeks we will be ready to land
troops in Java and secure the left flank by the end of the year.

Most of my air units have been rebuilt and trained and I'm now building up the pools. I was down to 0 Zero's [:'(] ..and that's only zero I don't want!

In the central Pacific I'm building bases and moving in fresh troops and supplies on a daily basis. I've lost 3 subs in the last few days, two were destroyed
by a lightly escorted convoy..so I can't use my subs to hunt enemy convoys, even not those that are not in range of ac. Another sub was lost as it mined Perth,
it took an msw with it though. Seems like the patch switched Allied sub doctrine off and put the Japanese one on.... So now I will use my remaining boats for mining,
recon and screening duties. It's mostly after big battles that they come in handy.

I've moved most of my fleet carriers to Truk, a few even sortied down towards Lunga but were spotted and ordered to return. I don't want to slug it out with LBA...
The plan is to repair and upgrade the Kagas and Shokakus, the rest are in fine shape and will support the operations in the DEI.

Otherwise I'm happy to build my strength and prepare for the battles to come - I want as many highly experienced pilots and ships as possible for 1943 - which I think
will be an interesting year [8D]

My life is almost back to normal...hurrah! [&o]
Here's the last couple of days from the front!

2 divisions and an engineer regiment have moved into Colombo, the rest of
the army will join them in a few days. The battleship bombardment force has
been sent back to Singapore. In less than a week I will start moving troops to
Java and destroy the Allied presence there.

Operations against Timor will also be carried out, I should be able to bring
overwhelming force to bear. We're into November now and I would like to
conclude business by New Years Eve...

The first Irving recon planes have arrived at the front and upgraded a unit equipped

Not a lot of enemy capital ships around, so I don't think the operations against Java

Another large transport convoy arrived in Karachi today and started loading another
2 divisions and 4 tank regiments. In all 5 divisions will remain in India.

I'm trying to build fuel and supply in as many different bases as possible. This will make
it easier to defend them against future assaults and provide staging bases for counter-offensives.

The large fleet carriers in Truk are getting much needed repairs and the first two will soon
move back to Japan for upgrades.

Another double update!

In todays situation map you can see the different bases in the south DEI.
I'm building Macasar, a size 3 af just above Kendari. Should provide me with a chain
of mutually supporting bases - the only way to counter the Allied medium/heavy bomber
threat.

Troops are now being moved to Java and Balikpapan and within 10 days or so major
offensive operations in the area will take place against enemy troops in Java and Timor.
This will be the final Japanese invasion of 1942 and will conclude a series of successful
operations.

For Timor I got one brigade, the South Seas Detachment, an engineer regiment and 2 para
regiments ready for action. The 3rd Car Div (Junyo and Hiyo) supported by 3 cvl's and 2 cs will
provide air support for the operation. A force of battleships, cruisers and destroyers will also
be made available.

The plan is for a join ops against Java and Timor - the fleet will stay north of Timor and thus
be in a good position to intercpet any enemy attempts to intervene.

Another regiment has been released from the Kwantung Army and is loading for Tinian.
A large engineer regiment has been unloaded at Hansa in New Guinea together with vast amounts
of supplies. This is another step in the process of building a linked chain of bases along the east coast
of the island.

Tanaka spanks South Dakota!

Post by PzB74 »

After a long lull in the fighting I have again put the Imperial war machine in gear!
Time to give the yanks he11 again [8D]

In the situation map it is illustrated how the liberation of Java will be carried out.
There are ca 130-150k enemy troops on the island, but they have been dispersed
among the different bases with roughly 30k in Madion, Tjilitjap, Soerabaja etc.

The armies already in place in Batavia have therefore been ordered to advance into
Soerabaja and Madion in order to tie up the enemy troops here. In the meanwhile another
120k troops are on their way to land at Kragen and split the island in two. Then the enemy
outposts will be reduced one by one. Their destiny is sealed, the Emperor has foreseen it

In Timor the 2nd Carrier Fleet with 200 ac will move closer to Lautern and support the battleship Ise as she
moves in to pound the enemy ground troops. If there are more enemy ships in the area they will be destroyed.
Ca 230 naval bombers have been put on alert in the surrounding bases.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 11/10/42

Surface Combat

Tanaka was ordered back to Timor as yesterdays job was only
half done. The small TF of 1 cl and 6 dd's met a large enemy battlefleet led by
the brand new South Dakota.

In a protracted battle Tanaka managed to surprise the enemy fleet twice and torpedoed
a destroyer, 2 cruisers and the battleship [:D] All of the enemy ships were shot up, including 3
DMS. Two Jap destroyers blew up and the flagship Jintsu was hit by 2 16" shells that caused
considerable damage. It should be possible for all of the (5) remaining ships to get back home
safely!

Post by PzB74 »

Moderate to heavy losses are expected as my transports and surface ships
moves into Lautern. There are mines, enemy PT boats - and a lot of bombers

Things were a little more...controlled in this turn!
Tomorrow the first troops transports arrive at Kragen - they've been there
before - so things shouldn't be too difficult [;)]

Landings will also take place in Lautern tomorrow.

In China I have moved 36 Zeros, 36 Tonys and 72 Tojos
into Manila. Average exp is now 70 and I will send most of them
to the South Pacific - the Marshalls to be specific. Desperately need
to bolster my fighter force there. Truk and Rabaul are also high up
on my list.

Landings at Lautern and Kragen

Post by PzB74 »

November 13th is my birthday...so in order to celebrate we landed at both Kragen
and Lautern. Nothing like coordination [;)]

As expected the only opposition was encountered of Timor! A few dive bombers broke through
the CAP and damaged the heavy cruiser Maya. A transport also hit a mine, but the troops got ashore.
I got another two tf's enroute - so I'll land whatever it takes.

RE: Landings at Lautern and Kragen

Post by PzB74 »

Todays actions went according to plan - well mostly [;)]

Kragen was captured and I now got a door into which I can unload another couple of
divisions. A heavy CAP was immediately moved into the size 1 af and a base force will
be airlifted in. The plan is to move 60k troops to Soerabaja, this will give me almost 100k troops
to take on the ca 30k Americans, including a full Marine Division. Don't want to underestimate those
guys. It will be a gruesome loss for them though....

In Lautern the entire Bda is ashore and the South Seas Detachment will begin unloading tomorrow.
The paras dropped over Dili knocked their teeth out as they shock attack a 4000 strong garrison.
A cavalry brigade will be unloaded here tomorrow - this was my 'floating reserve'. I don't want
the troops at Lautern to retreat towards Dili.

36 Tojos have been moved to Rabaul - I now have a sizeable fighter force here.
Anoter 36 Tojos have gone to Kwajalein. I plan to move another 36 Tonys here - still don't have enough
fighters to protect Wotje and the surrounding bases.

The carrier Junyo is torpedoed!

Post by PzB74 »

This was quite a turn!! Were to begin....

Today David complained that his ac refused to fly - that happens when they
stay grounded for more than one day [;)] Well, the whole kitchen sink in Northern
Oz took of on anti shipping strikes today. That's why I brought my 2nd Carrier Fleet
to Timor. No less than 50!! enemy bombers were shot down today. The Ise's superstructure
was hit by more than 15 500lb bombs. She's not hurt badly, but 20 fires will undoubtdely
bring sys damage up into their 20's. So she's going back to the yards.

Battleships are excellent at swallowing up enemy bombs - their use in surface battles are..
dubious at best. So I'll use em for escorts, artillery and bomb magnets <G>

2 of the ships that carried a Cavalry Bde to Dili hit mines and unloading was delayed.
This allowed the Allied units there to kick out my paras. I will therefore not attack
Lautern until tomorrow - half of the South Seas Detachment is still at sea anyway, and
disruption is rather high.

There are alot of enemy subs around Timor, and today one of them caught up with the
2nd Carrier Fleet: the Swordfish put a torpedo into the Junyo and triggered a fuel storage
explosion [:o] Sys damage is 21 and there are 20 fires blazing. The ship has been given an escort
and will return to port in order to minimize damage. Will probably take 3-4 months to fix her.

I think David deserved that little success - been long between them lately and this should make
the game more fun for him...I hope

RE: The carrier Junyo is torpedoed!

Post by PzB74 »

Most of my troops have now been unloaded at Dili and Lautern. The 10k troops
in the latter base will try to capture the base tomorrow. I only have 2500 troops
in a small Cavalry Bde in the former and they will simply stay there to force the
Lautern garrison to surrender.

I've hit quite a few mines, got a bb, cv, ca as well as several cls and dds damaged
in this 'limited' operation already. Hope David has done his worst for now. Fortunately
the fires aboard the Ise and Junyo have been contained. The carrier will get away with
a sys damage in the 30's while the battleship got 14 sys damage. Of all my battleships
the most fit one got 12 sys damage [:'(] Need a long rest soon...

At Kragen a large army is forming up, in a few days it will march on Soerabaja.

I've boosted Oscar II production: in 14 days I will finally be able to upgrade all
of my Nates! Another long range fighter, no matter how dismal its performance may
be, always comes in handy.

Hi, Engineers reduce forts but you have to get at least 1-1 (1 level) 2-1 (2 levels) 2 levels is max for deliberate attack. In shock attack you can reduce up to 4 levels if you
A. Have 4 engineer units
B. Have at least a 4-1 ratio
You'll never reduce forts at 0-1
