Will you guys continue to play thereafter? You've probably already covered that, but I can't recall.

It will be game over, I need to concentrate on Obvert![X(]

As you said, Allies would come back eventually in the end game.
You are probably passing up one of your best chances to get Jets in the air for the end game.

Yep, I would have had the Kikka in big numbers very early....

Also, I would have tested out the Randy FB in big numbers too...although that is certainly a lot less sexy.

The 155mm CD gun unit present has been a royal pain...

So, I am setting up to take Dora Harbor and another base by paratroop drop in the great North, and that might tip the scales over 4.0...or a large Chinese defeat, or simply bombing and bombardments on Allied troops will put Japan over the edge, perhaps, this next turn or the following barring Allied actions.

I don't think I need take Adak at all.

Another bombardment...the KB will bomb from 16K, a deliberate attack with all three divisions here, but they are fatigued and disrupted...

but I wanted to get another attack in, since I think IJA troopers will route another Chinese stack...

the games hangs on the balance with a VP ratio of 3.996 to 1...the Allies have pretty much conceded this unless there is a startling surprise attack somewhere.

Adak and Mines and 155mm CD guns...

a deadly combination. I spent destroyers freely, took many battleship mine hits, and lost many ships.

It was a horrible cost...but enabled the IJN to savage Allied air force on islands. For me, nailing those P38s & Beasts on the island was worth the cost.

Bombardments let my inferior planes perform more than adequately.

It is ironic, to be on the cusp of a 4-1 AV, having set up and planned for a long game. My prep for Franks, Kikka and Sam super early, with Randy and Patsy coming too...

I started the game with the mindset of less than historical expansion and strong counter attacks (no Port Moresby, but Ceylon raid, nothing south of Lunga (and that only lightly held). The Allies attempted two big offensives too early.

The Allies however gave me Port Moresby on the cheap, so I took it, crushed the Allied offensives at Tabit and Attu decided to shoot for more in the North Pacific as it was such low hanging fruit. I had abandoned Ceylon and managed to reinforce it days prior to an invasion and shoot for auto victory by pushing forward to Adak and beyond.

I took Singapore without a shock attack and managed to take Chungking in I think 5 attacks after a very long siege without shattering any Japanese divisions.

The IJN performed admirably, getting night attacks, and a tip of the hat to multiple small task forces. The Yamato clash with Prince of Wales was pretty epic and her sister ship pulled her weight too. The IJN was a force of nature in this game, especially with hitting transports...gotta love all these 36cm kills and the list goes on and on with low VP cargo ships.

Japanese ship losses

Allies got one good hit against some cruisers, but the decisive carrier battle always evaded us with weather or settings playing against Japan several times...anyhow, I am not a believer in the decisive battle.[;)]
