Jackie Stewart rooting for Rosberg in 2016:

Hahaha - had to laugh at that. I haven't even bothered to read what the silly old duffer has to say. Couldn't be anything to do with the fact that if Lewis were to win No.4, then Stewart would no longer be the most successful British champion per chance??? [8|]

Conflict with the unexpected: two qualities are indispensable; first, an intellect which, even in the midst of this obscurity, is not without some traces of inner light which lead to the truth; second, the courage to follow this faint light. KvC

I met Jackie Stewart. I can state he was a true gentleman on that occasion. And he was really entertaining to be with, albeit for 15 minutes. I have not met Hamilton, so I can say nothing regarding personal observations.

Given the way that Villeneuve acted from time to time - and the run ins he had with the FIA - then clearly the words throw, in, stones, people, glass-houses, shouldn't springs to mind [8|]

There are some ex-world champions worth listening to. Jacques Villeneuve is not one of them.

Ha, ha...Warspite...you are one funny guy. You should change your avatar to Lewis Hamilton for being such a fanboy for him! So which is #1?...HMS Warspite or Lewis Hamilton?[:'(]

So far we have Stewart and now Villeneuve...what will you do if the Queen disses him?[:D]

I think you misunderstand. As I have said to you before, I really don't care a jot what you or anyone else thinks of him from a personal point of view; that is naturally important to you, but is totally irrelevant as far as I am concerned, and my appreciation of him as a driver.

As a racing driver, I do care and will state my case.

Re Stewart, I massively respect the guy - overcoming his dyslexia, the safety campaigning and the not inconsiderable talent it took to win three world championships. However, that does not mean I agree with a lot he has to say - and the article on Rosberg fitted in very nicely with him wanting to avoid the loss of the record as the most 'winningest' British driver - rather than be happy for Lewis (if it happened).

As for Villeneuve please have a close inspection at his Grand Prix career.... that says all that is required. Re his 'bad boy' reputation and the comment about people in glass houses, it is there for all to read.

If Her Majesty is a keen motor racing enthusiast and cares to venture an option on Lewis's race raft then I would be happy to listen. If she were to make mention, and comment critically, on his penchant for tattoos, rap music and acquaintances with the likes of Rhianna, then that is her (or anyone else's prerogative). But I really don't care.

What makes me laugh is people here believing what is actually written in our so called free press. They have agendas, they write and twist what they want. Wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.

So, bashing Hamilton because he risks his life every two weeks or so and dares to party! Look how revered James Hunt is now? Where's the difference? Just saying!!

Oh and by the way, here is one reason Villeneuve is not worth listening to:

"The minute he starts celebrating second place is the minute he loses all the advantages he has over Rosberg".

Let's be really clear. So people slag Lewis off for NOT being happy when he comes second... and now this genius decides to slag Lewis off for being happy when he comes second?!?!? Er... right...

But it gets better - but clearly too complicated for Villeneuve to understand. The only person who lost advantage is Rosberg. Yes Nico, at the end of the season he won and he won well. BUT, he won after he'd lost. That press conference in which he said he felt better than Hamilton because he'd just won a few races??? Big picture Nico, big picture...

Rosberg is like English cricket teams of a few years ago. Yes they would occasionally win a test against Australia... but only once the Ashes had gone.

WHEN - and only when - Rosberg beats Hamilton to the one trophy that matters, he can go into the off-season with as big a smile on his face as he likes. Sporting such a beaming grin when, for the second time in two seasons, he loses the World Championship to Lewis is.... very strange behaviour from a top-class sportsman and winner.

Ok, on a serious note. My main point about Hamilton is not how many races he's won, or the championships he's won for Mercedes...that's all well and good, and congrats to him and Mercedes for making that happen (special point below as to what he really is the champion of). And I don't even mind him partying within a classy reason (or if he wants to get really crazy, then keep it private...or at least make it look like he's attempting to keep it private). My main problem with him is his disregard and purposeful unprofessional representation of the Mercedes brand (both in appearance and actions...I assume he is smart enough to realize that his actions reflect back on Mercedes). If you want to compare him to crazy acting drivers of the past...that was a different era. I do not think there is another driver on todays line up that behaves like this. Shumy didn't do it, Alonso didn't, Vettle...all professionals...they didn't act like spoiled children.

As for this season...the driver championship was between which Mercedes driver would win it...if Hamilton was not a Mercedes driver, then he would not have won the championship...plug in any other F1 driver, and it would have been between that driver and Nico as to who wins the championship. Its very obvious that Mercedes is the real champion, and Hamilton is the champion over Nico.

Race ability - We've been here before part 1:

You have admitted you cannot stand Hamilton and thus cannot take a reasoned view toward him.

Schumacher a professional? He CHEATED. He was found guilty of cheating. But hey, he's a professional. Alonso and Vettel? Like Prost, Senna, Schumacher and Lewis, these guys can be, and have been, particularly unpleasant. It's why they are winners, its why they are paid what they are.

Personal behaviour and character - We've been here before part 2:

If he was unprofessional toward the Mercedes brand he would not be employed by them. FACT.

Is F1 all about the driver or the car? - We've been here before part 3:

No Mercedes then no Lewis world champion. SO? There are very few drivers that have won without the best car - and when they do they need luck e.g. the best car breaking down. AND YES, Lewis is one of those few to have won without the best car.

Part 1: I fully admit I dislike Hamilton personally. My main problem now is actually with Mercedes keeping him on. I'm sure Mercedes cares not about little old me, but I am a loyal consumer of new Mercedes cars since 2004 and perhaps my consumer feedback counts for one blip. As for Schumacher, Alonso (who I also love to hate), and Vettle...it was their off track representation of the product they race for that I was commenting about. You are commenting about their on track unpleasantness...and why they are winners...I can surrender that argument to you.

Part 2: Not that I thought anything would have happened, but it was kind of interesting that Mercedes warned BOTH drivers about getting along. So perhaps its not too far fetched that Mercedes might be asking Hamilton to tone down his BS...we will probably never know...unless he changes his public behavior markedly from this point forward.

Part 3: Switch Kimi for Hamilton 2015. The fact that Mercedes was fairly to very reliable as well as dominant this past season means that Hamilton would not have won without a Mercedes car under him. This season was very unbalanced constructors wise...that's not Hamilton's problem, but its obvious to a fair observer that its Mercedes championship all the way and Hamilton was there for the ride with the exception of defeating Nico. He is the Champion of Nico 2015.

My hope is that beginning the season, if its still Mercedes dominant that Nico drives way more defensively and puts the onus on Hamilton if a crash happens.

Well F1 can be highly unsatisfactory at times. The car is too important, cheats sometimes win, rules often border on the insane etc. But it does not really matter what you and I think. So you do not consider Lewis World Champion (except over Nico)? Well, Nelson Piquet will be forever known as the 1987 F1 World Champion. That absurdity hurts - really hurts - even now, so I am glad that I have someone to share my pain [;)]

As for all the stuff about Mercedes championship (like that is something special and unfair for Lewis) well, without going back too far....

Lotus 1979, McLaren 1984, McLaren 1988, McLaren 1989, Williams 1992, Williams 1993, Benetton 1995, Williams 1996, Ferrari 2002, Ferrari 2004, Red Bull 2011, Red Bull 2013. And what do these have in common? Yep - even the greats - Senna, Schumacher, Prost, Vettel get a helping hand from time to time - just like that great Lewis.

I thought you would never ask. Barbequed, over an outside fire using mesquite wood. So as not to go off topic. Cooked at a Grand Prix Race

So, what does this mean exactly? That somehow Hamilton is the Alpha male compared to Rosberg? The way I read this is that having two Rosbergs would not have been as good as the current situation. That the current situation where Hamilton gets away with his shananigans and Rosberg just has to deal with it is the way its going to be in the Mercedes stable.

First, I cant believe Wolff would even put this out there, and the way he did it is very demeaning towards Rosberg. If I were a Mercedes board member, I would be on the verge of getting Wolff fired for these comments...put him on warning and do an investigation as to what is really going on there. I would ban Wolff from any further comments and from the media.

Second, If I'm Rosberg...I'm so f'en pi$$ed its not funny. I would go into next season with a huge chip on my shoulder. I would race Hamilton extremely hard and not give him one inch (in fact I'm taking more than inches FROM Hamilton)...and if that means this is my last year with Mercedes, so be it. Mercedes has "two Hamiltons" now.

If I'm on the Mercedes board I give Rosberg the thumbs up to do what ever he decides to do. Go for it Rosberg!

Unless Rosberg is a total PU$$Y, Wolff has guaranteed to have "two Hamiltons" for next season. From a fan stand point that would really be exciting to see, and re-ignite F1.

Mercedes it seems has a noose around Rosberg's neck. Hamilton's contract was renewed back in May, while Rosberg's contract ends at the end of next season. Mercedes can yank that noose anytime they think Rosberg is not towing the line...what ever that may be.

Rosberg should know that there are good teams out there that would love to have him, including Ferrari. He should just go for the gusto and not let Mercedes yank him around:
