Re: Rising Sun, Falling Skies: BTSL Bigred vs John 3rd
43-9-16\17 Alot of action in China Burma. John is unhappy with his mandaley attack this turn. He said his air did not fly.
So It seems his divisions took a 20% casualty loss. Ramree is grinding down my way. John has started a general offensive in China. Attacks above hanoi and North of Anking.

43-9-20: A flanking move into Mandalay from the ne across river with one regiment triggers a one unit shock attack. This would have been fatal to AR regiment but the japs are in full retreat. 4 IJA divisions have moved out. I dont know if they railed or walked.

Re: Rising Sun, Falling Skies: BTSL Bigred vs John 3rd
I like that second last line in DD Reid's combat: Japanese TF manages to escape!
Reid must have a great skipper!
And what's that Mk IX torpedo hit on CL Shirabetsu? Sub after the surface action or before it? Air attack that day? Previous damage that combined with the DD collision caused her to sink?

Just a Mahan class DD. SS Steehead is also operating in the bay of bengal, but dont see any combat report. Steelhead probably got a hit after the surface engagement. probably just bad IJN dice rolls. I am amused.BBfanboy wrote: Sat May 28, 2022 6:02 pm I like that second last line in DD Reid's combat: Japanese TF manages to escape!![]()

Re: Rising Sun, Falling Skies: BTSL Bigred vs John 3rd
The torpedo type (Mk IX) looks like a Dutch or British one, not the Mk 14 US. Could that CL have been hit prior to the action with DD Reid? One of the things I try to follow is the fate of warships damaged in battle - whether they are hunted down or escape, or just get unlucky and sink from bad die rolls!bigred wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 6:06 amJust a Mahan class DD.
