Allies have reached outskirts of Prome and Tyang Gyi. Air recon indicates two IJA AR divisions located at Prome with 50+
fighters CAP. USAAF p38s torched the base this turn. Allied daylight bombing with medium bombers to me is a waste becasuse mlb cant stand up to daytime enemy fighters. So screenies will show alot of night time harassing missions. Effect is to slow forts and gain mission experience for pilots.

At Anking in China the IJA has failed to take the mountaintop because reinforced 100th corp has arrived.. Chinese infantry is dug in deep on baldytop.

At Kodiak and cold harbor the IJA has been bombed and the Mogambi is on the run. The Oi takes a torp.

Hello All.

The world of Adm. Cochran is alive and well. Life has been crazy and it continues on as we move thru life.

Update:
1. My eldest, John, graduated from High School Memorial Day weekend. It was a near-run thing. Let us say that home schooling during COVID was USELESS for this child. Things were close enough that we did not know for sure that he was walking until Thursday 4pm before the Saturday ceremony. ANYWAY...he moves into his own apartment in a week to 10 days and, thus, one is out of the nest.

2. My youngest, Christopher, is going to be a Junior. Polar opposite of his older brother. At not yet 16, he is 6'2" and about 225. BIG KID! He is all set to go to Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat to get his culinary degree. Paula and I plan to buy him a restaurant in Craig and see what he can do.

3. We are SICK of the Front Range and plan to move to Craig, CO as soon as Chris graduates. Need to go to a place with less people, less stress, and differing views. To that end, we are selling our apartment building in LaSalle and buying properties in Craig. This move will start the transition so we can be closer to our cabin and closer to a final, retirement home.

4. Still at Subway. My stores are now owned by a delightful young lady who has far more energy, drive, and passion then I do. Am staying with her until we move.

Michael and I continue to slowly work on the Mods. We have pretty much left the Forum but still peak in. Hope all of you are well and look forward to hearing from you.

CHEERS!

Great to hear from you, John. Good luck to your eldest. Luckily in Korea my kid missed very few days at school. Since she just finished kindergarten, that's a very good thing, as the few days of Zoom instruction were, shall we say, not so useful.

Hopefully you'll have some more time to state the IJ case once in a while.

Cheers,

Disappointing results from the Nashville TF at 3000 yards - but avoiding Long Lances at that range is an accomplishment of sorts too!
Hope you can re-engage and take out the DDs and/or the AV.

43-10-24: Last turn the IJN sailed into Bay of Bengal with a CVE cover force for a large surface battle TF. I was unloading some LSTs at Cox bazaar and figured John would try to sink my LSTs and shut down my MRBs who are night bombing JAP airfields in Burma from Akyab and Cox bazaar. So I gathered the existing fleet around Chittagong. I ran a BC TF with the Renown. A CA TF and a DD TF. Probably should have put all into one SCTF. Also gathered 2 Torp beaufort sqn and 2 SBD-5 sqn along the coast in hopes of killing some crippled ships from the surface engagement(if I had one). This is the first screenie of a 2 day turn.

After seeing the replay I realized John did elect to bombard Chitiagong but the IJN SCTF maneuvered into my air cover on day one so I got a free whack before the main event.

Day 2 begins with a lot of engagements as the IJN SCTF works its way into Chitagong to make a night bombardment. I am willing to bet that entire Jap TF is out of ammo...???

I misdiagnosed the Jap TFs. appears to be 2 IJN TFs within my air cover.

43-10-25: If Allies sank 4 IJN BCs in one turn then this may be a turning point in the CBI theatre.

Iwaki is a BB, if that makes any difference. BC Kasuga is likely to have sunk, and possibly CL Naka, but I don't see any significant damage to the other BCs or BBs. Could they have hit mines during the bombardment?

Hey All.

Damn...that was a CRAZY pair of turns.

Just got off the phone with Paul. Plan to do a thrilling combat narrative like I occasionally do but want to see the nest pair of turns. Got to see who wins the 'Battle of the Cripples!' Once that is done, I shall hold forth on a glorious--Japanese first-hand--perspective of the fights in the Bay of Bengal.

43-10-26: Seems John has more than 2 BB SCTFs operating in Bay of Bengal. Seems I am outgunned. John just bombarded Cox and Akyab so I lost some air cover. Just got in a turn. seems like a lot of smaller ship kills on my side. No time today to make a graphics post.

The PLAN--such as it was--was for five TFs to enter the Bay of Bengal. It was strongly desired to land devastating bombardments on Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, and Akyab.

The entirety of the Battle Fleet was used:
Chittagong--Three modern BBs with 16" guns. Remember that there is no Yamato-Class in this version of the Mod.
Cox's Bazar--BatDiv1 with Tosa, Nagato, and Mutsu.
Akyab--BatDiv2 with Fuso, Yamashiro, Hyuga, and Ise.

Any warships or shipping at Chittagong was to be swept out by a TF of 2 fast BC, CL, and 6 DD.

Covering all this is the Japanese IO Carrier TF. It is known, to this point, as consisting of a group of 6 or more CVEs.

To protect the Chittagong TFs, the carriers flew off their DB and TB in picked up Fighters to help provide LR CAP. These CVs contained about 50 early-variant SAMS and nearly 100 A6M2.

This was the Operational concept at the beginning of the action.

October 22-23, 1943

The prelude to the battle sees the approach moves of the TFs.

1. The Carrier TF, with the fast BB/BC leading it, moves into the northcentral Bay of Bengal.
2. The two order BB TFs depart Port Blair and move out into the Bay. My hope is that he enemy fixates on the CTF and NOT the order BBs.
