27th June 1944...........

Lost yet another AO to subs of Kuching...........

Saipan was hit by over 600 carrier based bombers......so no doubt as to where the Landing craft are destined........

Another para drop at Pont(whatever)...west Borneo......this has triggered Kamikazi's........so with 1 allowed I alloted 1 today.......

28th June 1944........

The Invasion of Saipan begins.........and my minefields do their job.......10 MSWs sunk.......15-20 LCI/LST.......sunk.......10-15 AKs and APs hit....only 1 reported sunk......2 DDs hit.....and the CL Honolulu hit.........my coastal guns also take a bit....but Speedy had suppressed them enough as to not do the damage I had hoped..........

He did get 3000 AV ashore first turn.....to my 700...........let's hope the are disrupted enough to allow me to make a fight......but it is now only a matter of time.......I hope for weeks rather than days......but I suspect a lot more will come ashore next turn.........

AAG 2 hit his Invasion force heading for Sink(whatever)....West Borneo.....I lost 50 planes and hit only 1 AK ....as his 16 Lightnings flying LRCAP did their job......a crack outfit this one.......but some Graces...flying from Java managed to find some AKs with no fighter cover and sank 2.........

Thats a significant chunk of the allied MSW's do you have the ML's left to exploit it in the inner perimeter ?

if you do then APs and AKs plus LCIs can be used for reef barriers

Andy......I do have a fair few ML left ......at least 20......will check next turn.......

Game will be over before the MSWs re-spawn.......I looked at my reinforcement schedule....and I'm now losing bases where troops are meant to come in ....in 120 days time........ooopppsss....

29th June 1944.......

All the pits of Mordor must be empty.....as over 6000 AV have now landed on Saipan.......so it will be days rather than weeks..........a few more ships hit mines on the way in ..........but mines do become much less effective after the first run in.......

AAG 1-2 both tried to stop the allies at Ponti(whatever)......but to no avail........I lost 75 Aircraft to no hits........as some p-47Ds showed up as well as the Lightnings........soon Palambang will be under allied bombing threat.........

30th June 1944...........

Lost another 250 aircraft today..........and despite standing down all groups and evac.ing them from the Marianas.....I'll lose another 200 airframes tommorow as the damaged aircraft are tidied up by Speedy.......

The first Kamikazi attack of the war was launched out of Guam.....and despite a hail of flak 2 made it through...they both zero'd in on an AK....which not suprisingly sank.........why not a carrier?.....If I see those pilots in the Afterlife.....I'll kill them......

Speedy Del. Attacked Saipan today.......fort lvls down to 8 ....and I took more casualties.......the Island will fall in the next 3 days.........

Some big surface action off west Borneo..........to follow.....

Lost 150 airframes on the ground at Guam......more still litter the field..........

Allied Del. Attack Saipan.......frt lvl down to 7....and 2-1 odds achieved........not long now........

More Aircraft lost over Java.......as Speedy hunted...succesfully for my attack aircraft trying to catch damaged stragglers.......

2-5th July 1944......

Saipan has fallen........my inner defense line is breeched......the question now is how quickly speedy can follow up.......

His forces in Western Borneo have taken hold and are probably on the move north to Kuching.......after a stop at Sink(whatever)...which I cannot hold........

The Irrawadi line is also breeched........north of Rangoon.........all units will now try and pull out to Raheang......but this is going to be messy......maps to follow........

7th July 1944.......

Mandalay has fallen........as the last of my troops manhandled an AA gun across the river.....we burned what we could on the way out.........all troops are heading for the hex above Rangoon....where 4 of Speedy's units shock attacked across the river.......the newly arrived Imp. G. Div. held the line.......but I don't have the strength to counter attack.......Pagan troops started to pull out today....as I hope to retreat in echelon.....see map above.......Rangoon is being abandoned as we speak.......will hope to hold the Raheang/Tavoy line.......he may want his Brit BBs back for the next phase........
