I've just now received the first 20 of the new Baka ship killers. They say it's a glide bomb thingie but however it works it's got
a great anti-ship value: 720 will just about make a carrier bounce. I'd hate to waste it on a DD or something.
=
They attached them to the bottom of a betty bomber. One way trip for the pilot.

Thanks for the picture. I think I understand a lot better now how it works.

This is the face of Japan now. Thomas has divided it up into zip codes and a lot of them are writeoffs. I'm all out
of fresh units and at least one of them has respawned twice that I know of. I have no idea what kind of condition
the Allied units are in. I suspect they may be worn out too. We'll have to ask Thomas.

Here's the face of Japan now. Thomas has cleared up a substantial portion of the island and now is adjacent to Tokyo.

The screen shot shows the allied forces are actually two hexes away from Tokyo. It is extremely difficult to take a hex against the Japanese when they are dug in and in force. It also is even more difficult when the allies are tired and the Japanese are not. I have to rotate the ground troops to keep going.

The screen shot also shows the status of the air war. The allied air power has crushed the Japanese resulting in high interdiction. It is hoped the many interdiction strikes each turn softens up the defenders' entrenchments. It also tends to fix them in place so that if they move they get savaged from the air.

The reason the interdiction is so intense now is that the area occupied by the Japanese has been narrowed down greatly which allows the interdiction aircraft to concentrate and greatly increase in power.

It is early 1945 so there is still plenty of time to try and take Tokyo.

However, the allied navy has been slaughtered. So in a sense I would have been fired as an Admiral for having so many losses!

Here's the T169 face of Japan now. Thomas is adjacent to Tokyo and there's only tired troops to defend. This has been a long
war and it's almost over.

Here is a screen shot of the front at Tokyo. The city is now completely surrounded. The big attack will take place next turn which may or may not take the city. The defenders have no way to retreat so they will fight to the death. Some may hold for an additional turn.

It would be a good target for an atomic bomb but that is several turns away.

All the Marines will be in on this last attack.

The final attack on Tokyo was successful. The Japanese should surrender now but we shall see. The screen shot shows the Pacific and indicates all the Japanese areas that were bypassed on the way to Tokyo.

Okay........Thomas is the Japs and I'm the Allies and this is the Pearl Strike. Thomas says he sank 2 BB's damaged a lot more and
sank a handful of smaller ships. More or less the historical result. He's happy with the strike and quit after one wave of attackers.
There's a house rule that says he has to sail his carriers to the home islands now to avoid the moving to where the Allied carriers
are and picking them off one at a time while they are separated. And vulnerable.

I've only gotten about 500 events into a 5800+ event list and I've not watched the events at Manila
yet but I bet the damage was severe. Thomas said something about searching for the British ships
at Singapore and that little hint is probably about him going after the Prince of Wales and the other
BC there whose name I can't remember just now.

Anyway, the war is back on. I'll keep you posted.

Here's a shot from the playback about the PI area. Lots of Jap invasions. They have hit Luzon and Corregidor
and Leyte and at last light from the evening lots of Jap ships were headed for Singapore.

Okay, I'm going through the game moving the units and I've found a problem already. There's this fighter group that's based
at a non-airfield hex. They are in garrison mode or reorg or something and I can't move them, if I can move them at all later.
This is the Manila hex we're talking about so I think there should be an airfield in that hex. Yo Thomas.

All the Chinese stuff is in reorg and can't be moved etc. So I think I'll dig everybody in and set everybody to three-dots.

Chittagong seems to be hosting the Japs now. I missed the part in the replay where the Japs gained the hex. I'm guessing it's a
paratrooper. At any rate, whatever it is is a hassle I didn't need. There's lots of people downstream from that supply hex that need
it to be in Allied hands so I'm going to dispatch somebody to go look at that situation.

So um...this is what happened in Malaya. Some paratroop drops and the infusion of some aircraft and pretty soon you have
pretty good force projection. Jap Infantry is moving through Bangkok and I'm not sure which direction they are going. To
Chittagong or Singapore? We'll see.

The 3rd ANZAC Inf Div was based at Darwin and it wasn't doing anything important and more valuable yet all the personnel of the
division volunteered for duty in Java so I split the division into three parts and sailed them under the Jap noses into three ports on
Java. There's uncovered ports yet that need some attention but there's only so much shipping available in the early turns.

I was sailing the Yorktown carrier group from Wellington to Sydney and I got intercepted by Jap bombers and I'll be dad gum if I
didn't lose the Yorktown. D'oh. The admiral that ordered the move has been relieved of his command.

New moves from Thomas, new turn. The Japs have muscled their way into Manila. D'oh. In the old version the entire Allied
parts of the island would now be out of supply. Not this time. Thanks to Thomas and his changes.

It appears that I spoke too soon. The supply levels on the PI are gone. Zero, zip, zilch. Nada. The opposite of bou cou.
I'm going to have to try to get all the Allied stuff off the island somehow. Oh, and by the way, MacArthur left on a B-17
to Darwin. And thence to Sydney. He's already planning a come back.
