Can we put our plan into action? Or do you prefer passing?

I do not feel all that lucky at the moment...

So if I have this right they have no HQ left to launch an offensive chit on Gibraltar.

That being the case I think we should not try and end the turn, but try and ensure we have max warship support for Gib (and of course the disorganised unit be organised).

There is a Spanish reinforcement. Is there anyway of getting that in the game next turn?

No. It will ride on the spiral until Cartagena is liberated or Spain conquered. Whichever comes first.

No more warships available at this time. [:(]

Do you mind if I complete our impulse this evening? Unless, of course, we need to wait on Axis replies.

I am kind of eager to see the end of turn roll. [:D]

Edit: If it is ok, do you have any Soviet orders?

warspite1

Yes of course.

Soviet orders are limited to moving units (apart from blocking units) in the south to the east of the Dneistr - especially the HQ!

The same will apply in due course in the Baltic States and Eastern Poland, where only a few units will be southwest of the Dvina.

We play Allies in a 4 player email game against AllenK & Mayhemizer. This is the Allied internal discussion thread.

There is a Axis thread as well although only the 'dark' side venture there. [;)]

Germany -> Mayhemizer
Japan + Italy -> AllenK
CW + USA + Nat China -> Orm
USSR + France + Com China -> Warspite1

Here is our joint AAR thread, 4 player E-mail: AAR, if you want to see my forces kicked around. tm.asp?m=4061938

This line here fills me with pause.

Are you trying some new variant in the war in which, through an abundance of poor generalship, the Soviet Union is kicked out of the war in 1942? [:D]

Not at all. Axis has backed down every time USSR has made any demands and is in a fairly good position. It is now early '41 and I begin to doubt that Germany will DOW USSR this year. And Communist Chinese are in a decent position as well. Considering the opening disaster the Communist Chinese has fared well.

France was a disaster but there I blame bad luck and poor play by me.

All in all warspite1 has played brilliantly. [&o] [:)]

I think Lord Ormster is being somewhat modest here. The Swedish Maestro is the finest wargamer I have ever played with/against.

I am just thankful that here we are in Jan/Feb 1941 and the Soviets are still in the game [:)] That is good going for me....

Alright, you two. Get a room. [;)]

I wish I understood the game more-in order to give me some sort of perspective. In general, guys, what do you think of WIF? Is it worth it for a noob to pick up or too 'full of warts' against the AI?

I wish we had a room. [:D] It would be wonderful to have a gaming room where we could have our monster games.

World in Flames, the board game, is the best game I ever played.

The computer version (MWIF) is good as well although it has no AI yet (an AI is planned but I doubt it will be released next year). When the AI is added and netplay works better it will be the bestest game ever.

MWIF, however, is reasonably fun for solo play if one likes such. And fun to play by email as we do but it is slow going.

I think you will find MWIF easy to learn but difficult to master. The naval system can be tricky to get into, with the sea boxes system. And the US entry system can take a while to learn. But there are several good AAR threads that will help. And Steve made some great videos explaining the game.
