RE: Heads down and Helmuts on..........
8th-10th July 1944...............
A quite few turns in the CENPAC....as Speedy looks to get the Saipan airfields up and running.......I'm moving all night fighters back to the HI.....ready for the start of the bombing......
In Burma.....my troops are on the run from Mandalay....I had 5000 AV at Mandalay/behind it and at Pagan.......I'll gather them together by the river....and shock attack into his forces north of Rangoon ....I hope to coordinate the attack with the forces there......but on the retreat ....due to straggling....I think I'll lose around 1000 AV...........my troops are Malaria ridden and exhausted after what has been a 2 year campiegn in the jungle........most divs are down to 100 AV......if I can get 3000 av back to Raheang ....I'll be lucky...........
His TBS have hit my transports at Tobali.....effectively closing this source of resources to me.........Palambang also will soon be under the allied Bombers......I hope to get Ise out before the end .....she is 60 sys.....and 37 flt...........

Aww .... I wanted to talk about the spelling. It's a pity they can't build a spell and grammar checker into the website (most e-mail programs have built-in spell checks by now). Perhaps you could get OpenOffice or something like it to compose your posts on. (But just about any grammar checker is going to have a cow about your use of multiple periods!)
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Penguin spelling is of course subtly different from human........like UK vs USA.....Labour/labor ...colour/color......except there are more exceptions........the enless array of dots.........mere mental illness........

13th July 1944......
Speedy's carrier go hunting west of Saipan.............I had seen them coming for the last 2 turns....but miscalculated....and he caught to of my troop transport TFs.......6 hexes west of Iwo..........and sank 3 DDs a CL and 4 APs......oh, and a PC........he'll get the other DD and 4 more APs tomorrow........
A sqdrn of Jacks...with some Kamikazi Bettys........hit his forces ....but 120 Hellcats stopped them...(not surprisingly)......
Burma a big mess.........he has managed to push 2 Divs and several Arty units....away from the main body ....and back to T.gyi.....there they will die......Part of the Army will shock attack across the river tomorrow.......the rest.....Thread willing.......in 3 days time.........

14th July 1944.......
Speedy's carriers moved between Iwo and the HIs and finished off the 2 convoys he had damaged....I lost another 10 transports and a DD.........Iwo Launched a Kamikaze attack...and 43 Zekes made it through the 100+ hellcat CAP.........but only 1 made it through the flak....hitting the CVL Langley.......no serious damage reported....
His 2nd carrier group surprised me turning up off Legaspi....and destroying a troop transport TF.....empty ....luckily....as I lost another 5 APs and 2 DDs.......
His troops have landed at Rangoon (which I have abandoned) he will take it tomorrow....and I think at that point he will match me on point terms.........
My troops shock attacked across the river to the North of Rangoon..........all are across ....but all are wreaked......will try to pull them to the next hex on....where another 1,200 AV........and lvl 9 forts.......await them.....

16th July 1944...........
Speedy's carrier force 1 moved between Iwo and Bonin today(no doubt to hit the airfields)....but bad weather meant no missions on either side were flown........I have 4 Kami groups stationed here...but as the allies almost always get first strike.........I'll need a good deal of luck to use them
His 2nd Carrier force....looks to be headed to Formosa.......another 3 Kami groups are stationed here.......I hope to damage another 2 carriers.....this would stop some of the long-range raiding ...in the short term.......and also mean less cover for the eventual Iwo Invasion........Though....unlike PzB I've lost all my experienced pilots.....so won't be able to manage to put up as good a fight........
His subs the last 2 turns have had a great time....as he found my new convoy routes.........and has sunk 4 APs.....4AKs....and......Threadhelpme......2 TKs........
His troops have arrived....after a long march....at Balikpapan.....we look evenly matched.......and I have reserves at Tarakan....so I hope to fight on this front until Christmas..........
Burma is an almighty mess.....as my troops flee south......I should get them all across the river.....the hex above Moulmein......where I was going to stay...having reported lvl 6(not 9 as I said earlier) forts...and leaving him to cross a river.....but the hex now has NO forts.....is this due to the large number of new troops entering the hex?.......anyway it has given me a headache....and a lot to think about.......where is Lacrimosa........when I need her most.

Look at all those bombs......
Speedy's night HI bombing campiegn has begun.........he Targeted manpower over Osaka.......a sqdrn of Irvings intercepted......but came off the worse....no planes lost on either side.......but half the night fighters were damaged.....
Speedy also asked if he could target anything in the HIs....and I have agreed.....we'll have to see how this will work out....if he can close all my aircraft engine factorys in a few weeks through night bombing....then we need to review.......but will be interested...for future games.......how the game works with this.......

I'll be interested to see this as well; not too many games have gotten far enough to see the real effects of a concentrated HI bombing campaign...

17th July 1944........
Speedy's deep raiding carriers came under attack from Kamikazis today.....
Carrier Grp 2....near Okinawa......hit and badly damaged a supply convoy.......I lost 5 AKs a MSW and 2 PGs....then My Kamis attacked..........Lexington, Wasp...and Franklin....were all hit by 1 plane each......but no real damage reported............
Carrier grp 1......near Iwo....Hit Iwo.....and destroyed about 15 planes on the ground.......but the Intrepid.....had fallen behind the other carriers....and with no proper aircover........60 Kamis attacked......12 hit....and the Intrepid is no more.......
In these action I lost over 200 Aircraft........
My troops on Saipan are reported to be surrounded.........
Here is a map of Burma.......

Look on the bright side: at least you workload in coordinating submarine operations has been drastically reduced. [;)]
