It was a nice AAR to follow, thanks to david and Pzb for allows us to read it[&o]

Hope to see it continue (somehow), required reading at the WITP academy...[:)]
RE: Complications....
Thx Zecke - Harry! Dave has confirmed that he's out of WitP for good - so I guess this is the end of the line for this AAR.
Even though I've always hoped to see this game through to the end I'm not sure whether a replacement is an option anymore: it would take a man with really big feet to fill in for Wobbly and Dave... [&o]
Potential candidates without a life and with big cojones are still encouraged to apply!-)
So let me 'hang out' for a week while I consider my options. Difficult to lay down a game that I've put so much effort into!

We're having some issued with the new V1.6 patch.
Combat animations and combat reports remains turned OFF, so we're backtracking a few days in order to
figure things out.
If this doesn't work we'll revert to V1.5 I guess...!
O dear, im having this problem also, i thought it was because me and my Japanese opponent upgraded in wrong order and it would sort itself out in a few turns.
I hope this isnt a major problems, i had enough headaches with 1.5, and im currently losing sleep over my Pacific fighters not working.

RE: Complications....
This game really is a classic. I haven't posted in this forum for quite a while but always managed to find some time to get a quick look at what was giong on in PzB v. WobblyDave. It would be real great to see what allies can do after such a succesfull Jap campaign. Who knows, with India pacified, Japan may still have a fightig chance to fight off a mayor landing here and there. As one of my old UV pbem opponents once wisely said: real life always comes first. The game is addictive and hard to resist at times. I just hope everyone comes out of this ok with no "I'm a WitPoholic" support groups required. Cheers
RE: Complications....
are you taking about "BIG COJONES"[:D], here is one[:'(]
Now seriously,, i Know that you are thinking, to keep on goig or not, just take your time, but if you want to continue this great AAR, just tell me, i will manage the allies. even if i cant see the AAR anymore due to taking the allies, just for the others they they want it to see it how its ends.

A brave new Allied CinC....
I woke up this morning and found that I had no less than 3 potential takers for the 'vacant position' as CinC for the Allied side [X(]
Must admit that I was in doubt whether to keep this game going, but there are a few good reasons:
1. I've always wanted to complete 2 WitP games - one as Japan and one as the Allies.
2. I've spent a lot of time and resources on this game and I really don't feel like playing 1942 over again as Japan if I don't have to.
3. This game has the potential, as Honda says, to see how long Japan can hold on after the Allies have received a whacking - or three!
4. All of you that read and comment on the progress of this AAR are a great motivation to continue playing.
So I've decided to accept Nomads request and hand over the Allied side to him! Zecke - I really appreciate your offer! I've played UV
against Nomad before and he feels that he got a score to settle. So I'll give him this double edged sword and see what he can achieve.
At least he can't sue me if he doesn't win [;)]
I'll invite Nomad to start his own AAR thread - this will be up to him. Hope you all give him the support he needs to get this thing moving
again. There are a few problems: He has most likely read my AAR and is aware about all of my plans - so we need to work out a new
one! So now is the time for good advice folks! [8D]
This is how I see it: The Allies have lost many surface ships and 5 US divisions + India. This has put Japan in a much better historical
position compared to history. Still, the USA alone will be able to replace these losses during 1943 and we all know that the Allied advance
through the Pacific goes much faster than it did in WWII as soon as Japan has 'lost its edge'.
So even an advantage in points and material in early 43 is most likely not enough to prevent Operation Olympic in 1945-46! From my point
of view this makes the game much more interesting than a simple replication of history. For me it's the ability to wage war on a grand strategic
scale that is the most challenging aspect of this game. All the minor inaccuracies of the game doesn't really matter as their influence on the
overall result is really small compared to the decisions made by the CinC.
In a real war it would be completely impossible for a single person to command and coordinate Army and Navy units and play 'God' - especially
in a country like Japan. The question about 'historical accuracy' is therefore a mute point for me, at least when we talk about the smaller details.
So I will continue to do my best in order to see how long it is possible to keep the B-29s out of range of Japan - and eventually try to prevent
the Allies from dropping the bomb, invading or in any other way force Japan to surrender!

RE: A brave new Allied CinC....
greetings..
gret news!
Can you post your industry/resource/research screen. I simply like this aspect of the game. As for advices, do a hard research on Shinden and Reppu.
(of course, there is no need to start research in 42 or 43, but you should start research this beatiful toys at the start of the 44)
but, before that, this is what i will do*:
1. research Zeke & Frank (Peggy...etc)
2. expand shipyards (why not have more CV's)
*if i have enough supplies (but, you should have big stockpiles since you liberated India)

Well it's great that this AAR will continue.
Find it crazy that someone would want to step into this game!
Which has so far sent two guys mad.

RE: A brave new Allied CinC....
Hi Pauk,
I will post a screenie when I get the first turn back from Nomad.
I'm already researching the Zeke pretty heavily, 121 ac pr month!
As to supplies: I'm not swimming in it. I've been forced to order a large expanse in engine production as I found
that the increase in ac production cause me to produce 200 fewer Nakajima (or was it Mitsubishi) engines pr month than I need [X(]
Large cargo tf's have been sent to bases with surplus supplies in order to enable me to stack supplies in my frontline bases.
One good thing: a large convoy will go to Karachi and pick up 400k supplies! Oh joy
Have to spend this reserve wisely - not sure dumping it in the Home Islands is the best approach. Somehow everything I drop here is sucked
dry in no time....
Cookie! It wasn't me this time: Dave quit because he overdid it and played too much WitP. The obligations became too much
and prevented him from doing all the other things he enjoys in life.

RE: A brave new Allied CinC....
I've played the first turn against Nomad...unfortuately things are not all ok.
Combat animations are back on but the combat.txt report is still off. This will make it difficult to
update this AAR.
Even worse: the AI has hijacked one of my divisions, the 55th. This division was originally in Burma and
is still preparing for Mandalay. It's now on Jaluit, a small atoll in the South Pacific [:(]
The 48th Division was originally in the hex just south of Mandalay and is no completely gone. It is not
even on the map!! I've searched all over for it [&:]
I'll open a thread on the support forum - but this isn't good and we may have to go back to the last turn me
and Dave played before upgradig to V1.5.
Take a look at the pictures in this and the next post and let me know what you think....
They should have made me a beta tester: if there is a bug, I'll find it...or vice versa!-(

RE: A brave new Allied CinC....
Nomad just told me that hasn't upgraded to V1.6 yet [8|]
This may explain the problems but I've suggested to rever to the January 3rd turn. The last one I played in V1.5.
When I receive Nomads reply I will upgrade the OOB and send it back to him. He will then play it after upgrading to V1.6
Gawd this is such a mess!
Could have done without this last patch.

RE: A brave new Allied CinC....
I've now played the 4th of January turn over again for the 3rd time...argh! [:o]
This was the last turn David sent to me before he upgraded to V1.6.
So I've added the OOB changes after turning on all the right settings.
Nomad will play the combat replay before upgrading to V1.6 as well and then we should finally
be back on track.
Something is still iffy though! My 48th Division was still in Burma this time, but the 55th has been
'teleported' to Jaluit [&:] I don't understand how this could happend? I hope the next few turns will
work out because all of this is starting to get frustrating.
I will ask Nomad for a truce in the Marshalls so that I can pick up my division in a few days and
ship it back to Burma
My naval bombers hit 5-6 transports outside of New Guinea today...I won't - or can't post a more
detailed report as the combat.txt is gone for at least another turn or two!

RE: A brave new Allied CinC....
Rather than waste time shipping it there, have Frag fix your file for you.
RE: A brave new Allied CinC....
I have sent the files to Frag... Hope he can fix it.
The 48th Div had dissappeared when I openend the next turn from Nomad.
At least I've been able to provide Frag with fresh evidence [8|]
The combat.txt report is back, I assume that combat animations will be back in yet another turn.
So all that's left to figure out - at least for now - is the two 'rogue' divisions in Burma.

Rangoon to Jaluiat and back in 2 days...
Here's the latest update from the fronts....
Frag took a look at the turn and gave the following statement:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, here is the original turn with 55th moved back to Rangoon.
Please use it and flip me the next turn where the 48th vanishes. As it is still here in this one, I can't fix it yet.
It is the Japanese side, just after order execution with the settings right. Do *NOT* use the 1.6 upgrade option on the Prefs screen as it will not work well with a game this old.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As I understand it it is not possible to upgrade the OOB in V1.6 for games that have been started in V1.2 or older.
The good thing is that Frag has fixed things and we're on our way again. The 55th Div has completed it roundtrip from Rangoon to Jaluit
and back in less than 48 hours! Tomorrow we'll see whether the 48th Div dissappears or not. If it does the Gestapo will track down the
deserters and feed them back to the mosquitos outside Mandalay....
The bad thing is that I had to prepare January 5th for the fourth time
