Today I come bearing an olive branch in one hand, and the freedom fighter's gun in the other. Do not let the olive branch fall from my hand. I repeat, do not let the olive branch fall from my hand. - Yasser Arafat Speech to UN General Assembly

FANTASTIC! Made me darned near spew my tea this morning.

I keep looking around and over my shoulder for an attack somewhere else but I have air search flying from Adak, Attu, Paramushiro Jima, Marcus, Wake, Jaliut, Roi Namur, Noumea, the focused theatre, Exmouth, Cocos, Benkoelen, and Sabang. The bases and any threat axis APPEAR to be covered. We're gonna find out this coming turn or next...

The Simmering Cauldron

Post by John 3rd »

Came home for a quick lunch break and pick-up my car. Thought about this dratted game all through doing prep at the store. How many of you have that happen??!! [8|][8|]

Looked through last turn and I really think Dan is going to hesitate. He MUST know I am ready and waiting. He is totally wanting to depend on his LBA to supplement his CV power. I shall not let that happen. My forces will not attack until he is close enough for that LRCAP to weaken. He must come to ME for any plan of his to work. I WANT him to close in. Will bring the ranges back a hex or two to make sure of this. Patience is an absolute virtue and I am taking drugs to keep my natural proclivities from kicking in. We wait...

Waiting gets the following:
1. Reinforcement of Terapo.
2. Mines getting placed at several locations.
3. An Air Flotilla arriving at Milne Bay.
4. Reinforcement of Merauke.
5. Gove, Wessel, and PM are about to increase AF size.
6. Horn, Terapo, Merauke, and Milne about to raise Forts.

Am going to bring my AOs in and refuel KB.

Time is Japan's friend right now.

Well, of course. What's REALLY pathetic, John, is when you spend a bunch of your time thinking about SOMEONE ELSE'S game. I find myself doing that on more than one occasion too. [:)]

Enjoying the AAR, dude. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Sir. I have been dwelling on this all day.

Just got home and am debating on getting the turn run or not. The wife is...rather...ahhhhhh...uppidy. We are hosting a BUNCH of our church people over here Friday Night and she is stressed about it.

Also promised I'd do Viperpol's Turn FIRST!

Will do an update the MOMENT I can. This might be for a while though...

Understood. A woman who encourages caboose purchases is not to be denied. We shall wait.

I know what you mean! I've got John's screen shot of the converging forces burned into my head and find myself thinking how all this will develop. It's a sad but beautiful thing.

Post by John 3rd »

Would that be the 'boose you speak of??!!

We are making progress. Interior has all new plywood, painting, by the wife, starts next week, and we are going to reconnect the Breaker Box to our garage and have POWER! Well...we hope...we'll also have a fire extinguisher on hand...

Chaos Theory

Post by John 3rd »

Just sent this note to Dan and thought I would place it here:

Real Life has intervened without getting even a look at the turn tonight. My profound apologies but Paula is all riled up about having 25-30 people over tomorrow and threw out a crapload of things to do that we just got semi-completed. Would have been NICE to know these things needed to be done last weekend but we’re ruled by Chaos Theory right now. Sorry. I a venting because all I wanted to do was play this damned turn and give orders for your hoped-for immediate destruction. Not to be.

I will do whatever I can to get something to you tomorrow. I open again and go until 2pm. The law will be laid that I need an HOUR of time to do the turn. Cannot promise but will try to find some reason to get home and at least run the turn so you can see the 001. No promises but I’ll try.

Sorry readers. Will do what I can tomorrow. This kid is bushed and headed to bed so he can get up in seven hours to go to work.

Don't forget to double check your air group leaders and Air HQ like I mentioned to you yesterday during your break from work.

OT - I'll take a nap for you today so you feel rested. [;)]

7 hours of sleep? Wasted time my friend. During fishing season I average 4-5 hours a night, sometimes less. Sleep when you are dead, you won't be doing anything else then anyways...

The Cauldron???

Post by John 3rd »

It is dangerous to be an Allied flanker currently. Already 3 AK--AKL have been sunk as well as DD Sands. Well...add USS Drayton SW of Tagula. She is surprised and gets a Long Lance before her guns can hardly respond. NICE!

Not much occurs during this turn November 8, 1942. As expected Dan withdraws towards Townsville hiding under his LRCAP.

GREAT!

I do the following:
1. Pull Strike Ranges down some so he has to be farther from his LR CAP allowing me to get in a do more chance of damage.
2. Kido Butai: A. Refuel tomorrow. B. Splits off two CVL to run over and gain new Aircraft (M5s). Just a one-day run. Dan SEEMINGLY thinks Rabaul is my major base of operations. It is not. Tulagi is Pt-4, has 75,000 fuel, 28,000 supply, 1 AR, 1 AS, 4 AKE, and a Naval HQ. C. Pull 4 CA, 1 CL, and 4 DD to meet another group of DDs at Milne Bay. Am strongly thinking about bombarding Cooktown's AF. YES: Radar is with THREE of those ships.
3. Thanks to Michael's suggestion, I decide to go through all my Daitai/Sentai Leaders. Nearly all are good but I do find a couple of bomber leaders who probably would have challenged 3,000 Wildkittens with his invincible Bettys/Nells/Kates! Also found two WOEFUL Fighter Leaders. Spent about 50 PP to change these leaders into a much more appropriate choice.

In waiting Dan allows me to do the following this day:
1. Mines dropped off at Horn and Port Moresby.
2. Terapo's garrison increases another 20 points. The 3 AK carrying the heavy equipment of the SNLF unit will arrive tomorrow to unload.
3. Three SS arrive at Horn and move to patrol.
4. Move most of the SS Wolfpack to RAISE SOME HELL with the Allied Fleet.
5. Another Betty Daitai arrives at Rabaul and can rest prior to deployment.

SS continue their harrassment:
I-17 sinks an AKL near Townsville
1-7 MISSES BB Nevada. That would have been fun!

That is the major news.

I do apologize for yesterday my readers. It was not a pleasant day between work and home life. We got stuff done but it was frustrating when I knew a turn was waiting...

Michael reminds me about the Air Flotilla and Air Division Leaders. What do you think is the most important skill for them and why? Input would help bunches. Will change a few leaders with next turn.

Same question but for Naval HQ Leaders.

Thanks!
