I've had this game since the first alpha release 2-3 years ago (before it even had sound!), and it is a very ambitious game that has really picked up the pace in development over the past 6-12 months. Now is a great time to check it out and get it pretty cheap. I think it is one of the best sandbox games out there. You can start with a character who has literally nothing but a shirt and a rusty sword, and then go from there however you like. It's still a work in progress for sure, but it's a very unique game worth checking out. Not a game for everyone though, since there is no structure to speak of, it's a total sandbox.

All of the "Endless" (Endless Legends and Endless Space) are on sale right now. If you already have either/both base game(s) you can get all of the expansions for less than $10. Pretty great deal for some solid games.

Endless Space - A space 4X that has some cool ideas, but won't blow you away. A fun game though if you don't want to play something as involved as Distant Worlds or Gal Civ. Major points for the slick UI, it really should be the standard to which all 4X UI's are compared.

Endless Legend - A much more interesting fantasy 4X where all of the factions play in very different ways and there is a lot of fun stuff going on. The factions really are unique and playing each one can make for a different experience. One faction can only have a single, super city, another faction has an economy based on cadavars from battles. Best of all, there is not an dwarf or elf to be seen. The expansions add on a few new races, espionage mechanics, seasonal changes to gameplay, and lots of other stuff.
