What is the point of the NBAPs with the U-2VS aircraft? The game engine produce these aircraft at a heavy rate and I currently have 2 thousand of them at my disposal.

I've tried using these during nighttime, with impunity. In ground attack directives they mostly take extremely heavy losses. I've adjusted the directive to only fly during the best of weathers and only attack positions with very weak AA, but still they seem uncapable of incurring even a single man loss.

Someone please tell me if you found any use for them, in any way! :p

much the same, I actually run them at 1,000' day GA-unit attacks, they then need a couple of weeks to rebuild their morale and you can repeat. Its all low level damage in terms of disruption/fatigue.

Clearly once you need the airbases you may as well just use them as training formations, scrap when they reach a decent experience and the pilots go into the Il-2 formations.

At one stage there was an idea of a Soviet partisan box, and these could operate in that (fits as the type of damage they do is akin to that type of warfare). Problem is the theatre boxes aren't designed to be in direct opposition (even the Finnish theatres actually operate independently) but it might help. But thats a bit of a reflection as to their usage in-game, its clear the Soviets found them of use right to the end of the war.

What is the condition for the Moscow MD to be unfrozen or turned into a Front?

Starting a 1941 campaign with the latest patch. The Africa TB starts at 86% and the other TB's (W, B, N, It) are just under 100%. Is this normal? Getting a lot of African Axis setback events. I thought the TB's start at 100%.

no, they start as they start [8D]

there is a risk of lost VP etc in the first few turns (for both sides) as things settle down. In most games this oomes out in the wash but there is a risk of an unbalanced outcome.

I have two question about airbase construction. First, is there any way to visually track construction projects that do not begin from scratch? I know that new constructions appear orange on the map. But what about expansions? Is there any way to track those?

Secondly, if I have assigned a construction unit to an airbase construction project and I have locked HW support, do I have to retrieve the SU myself once it has finished? I should have a clear answer for this myself, but you see, I have trouble keeping track of the construction projects . . .!

As a suggestion for a future patch, one might hope that the Commander's Report might be expanded to include all construction projects, including bases, ports, and railyards. Since the game tracks these things, it ought to be possible, one imagines.

Thanks!

Click on the location name top right where the airbase upgrade is taking place and the new window will have information in percentage how far the upgrade has gone.

If you assign a Construction Unit to a location yourself I'm pretty sure it will stay there indefinitely. If you let the game engine assign Construction Units automatically they will also automatically return to where they came from once the job is done.

I'm having some issues with receiving replacements for Army and Front HQs. I've got one Front HQ at 27%, and I really have no idea how to fix this. Some of these problem HQs are sitting on well supplied depots and at Supply Priority 4, but no help. Anyone knows the solution for this?

The best time to take care of this issue is in the first two turns - before you run out of the initial manpower pool. After this, the manpower is pretty much hand to mouth for your refitting units. Since you can't set these units to refit, the manpower tends not to flow to the HQ's. If you set them on level 4 depots and set their supply priority to level 4 the first couple of turns, they will fill up above 85% very reliably. After this, it's the same process, but it's dependent on how many units are refitting and some chance. You can also send them to the reserve, and I think this improves the chances of receiving reinforcements. I usually have plenty of high TOE armies after the first couple of turns, and send the remaining few to the reserve. You get another wave of manpower on turn 24 that can be used to fill the HQ's up as well.

Okay, thanks, yeah I suspected as much. Feels like this is a feature that's missing tbh, checking some flag that will prioritize a certain HQ. With Front HQs you can't even send them to the Reserve, so there's that.

If you accidentally transfer a unit to a theatre box, but you're playing without enhanced TB control, is that unit basically lost to you?!

Yes, think so. Quicksave often with the Q key.

July 41 German. There are new air units in the reserve TB. I can transfer them anywhere EXCEPT the map! Is this a bug or is there a limit to air units on the map?

you transfer to the map using either the AOG lables or the airbases - see section 17.3.1

Well, that's not quite what I was asking. I know how to find out how far an air base's expansion has progressed. What I want to know is which air bases are being expanded.

Whats are the benefits of a level 1 Railyard?
Is there any benefit of building a depot on a level 1 Railyard versus a bare rail hex?

If you build it on a bare rail hex a lvl 1 Railyard has to be build which uses up spare resources. I try to build depots on railyards lvl 1+

Right. Sadly I don't think there is any direct way to view this.

One way to at least get a little assistance with this: Go to the Commanders Report screen, have only Construction units in the filter, and make sure the City column is visible. Sort by City and you will see any Construction units that have been assigned specifically to cities. You can then click through them and you'll see City detail view and any airfield upgrade progress. Of course this only works if you have Construction units assigned to the cities in the first place.

Not really a solution, just might be a bit of help.

Thanks. That gets me part of the way there!
The CR really could be improved in a future patch to make all construction projects more visible.
