It appears that the Germans have pulled their regiments back from the front line....maybe to keep them out of harms way for a minute or two. This is the Smolensk shot.

Here's a still shot of the Sevastapol area just to prove to you that nothing has changed there since maybe turn 49 or so.

Here's the total Soviet losses so far. The numbers say I lost 2100 rifle squads this turn. I can't keep doing this every turn....I say that every turn I know.

Hey you guys....I pressed the button to start the Soviet Winter Offensive back on turn 49 and it's showing red as if I already pressed it but I haven't seen any news string to say anything about it starting. Did I miss something. Is it variable or something? Or is there no news it just starts "sometime" after you press the button?
Is this a bug? Anybody know?

Image

Hm, i have just looked into the events in the scenario editor. There is no news string to announce the winter offensive. It's simply two events. The TO itself and an activated event - no separate news string event. So you probably got the shock bonus, but on the other hand, the TO option should have been removed from the TO window after its activation. I tested it with Wintergewitter 42 where i knew one has TOs on the start and all chosen TOs have disappeared the following turn.

Here is the FitE event chain for the soviet winter offensive:

Ev 11 Turn 999 shock 1: 115 (soviets)
Ev 12 Turn 49 TO 1 (Begin Winteroffensive 41), activate 11
Ev 13 Turn 62 TO 1 (Begin Winteroffensive 41), activate 1000 *
Ev 14 EvAct 11 delay 11 shock 1: 100
Ev 15 EvAct 11 supply radius 1: 6
Ev 16 EvAct 11 delay 11 supply radius 1: 4

* this should remove it according to briefing

This means you can check the supply radius wether it is 6 or 4 to see if you are really in Winter Offensive conditions. Look how many hexes full supply is traced from a fully supplied hex (i.e. rail) along a minor road.

The Buzz man has 'no borders' turned on so it's difficult to find a spot that will give us that information but I think maybe I found one. But I can't tell what the supply radius is in this picture. Can you?

It was my understanding that TOAW 3 has 1000 events now. So activate 1000 ....does it still turn off a TO?

This is from the manual:
"Supply is first traced from friendly controlled supply points
through friendly controlled, undamaged, Railroad hexes. Then, it
must progress from each supplied, friendly controlled, undamaged
Railroad hex to a distance equal to the Force Supply Radius
(set in the Editor) through friendly controlled, improved Road,
Unmuddied Road, Urban, Airfield, and Anchorage locations."

Difficult to tell from that pic - ii seems you advanced all along these roads through enemy controlled terrain in the turn you made the screenshot, so it can't be said at all. But if you didn't, especially with the MP unit in the upper part of the pic the supply radius is 4 if the road is unmuddied.
I suggest you open the turn for testing purposes and look for a location with an improved road or an unmuddied normal road that leads at least six hexes away from a fully supplied rail hex (and doesn't get within the vicinity of another rail or fully supplied hex). Spread your units out along the road and make a screenie with supply visible and units invisible.

If it has activated there WILL be a news string. Event 11 gives the news string the following turn as well as shock 115.
Please doublecheck that the event has disappeared from the TO-list.

To check if you are affected by any shock, you can look in situation briefing. There is some supply information under "FORCE" in this window.

Supply is then calculated like:

like (X+Y)*(1-Z)*S=E (rounded off),

with X being your supply stockpile
Y your supply enhancement,
Z your supply loss (%) because of enemy interdiction
S is the shock in effect.
and E your effective supply. The one listed on a fully supply hex (but sometimes E+1 is listed, I don't know why, maybe some weird rounding off)

S isn't listed, but since you have all the other numbers, you can find the shock in effect, be it 0.8, 1.15 or any other number.

Nope, it's 999 events.

Oh, and I guess I should mention that we're not playing the stock version of FitE....we're playing a FitE scenario that's been modified by the Buzz man.  You can get it from either Buzz or me....just send me an email and I'll email it to you.  But you might want to wait until we get the events fixed for the Winter Offensive(s).

Well it looks like I messed up when I fooled with the events. Don't know why but since I put something in the 500 slot it messes with everything else. I have to redo my other modded one to fix this. So the question to someone out there,

I add a new event, in FITE the last event is 499. There are events activating event 500 and 999 and 1000 I have seen. So if I add an event 501 I should have not issues then correct? This is what I understood what I was told earlier.

Heck I didn't want the Russians to have a winter offense anyhow.
