Not sure what your DL on Wake Is. is, but only 10 guns there suggests the 10K+ troops are BFs and Construction units. Japan does get a "Wake Coastal Gun Unit" but could have moved it off to another island (or lost it on ships at sea). Good luck!

Overkill is better than underkill.

It was one axiom that IJA/IJN forgot, they unnecessarily spread their forces, leading to Coral Sea and Midway. I doubt USN would have had that great success vs. 6 CV Kido Butai.

"If something is worth attacking, it's worth attacking a with lot." Same goes with artillery.
