Army Group Centre

On the central front the line remains quiet as Erhard Raus 3rd Pz Armee deployed on both sides of the Volga continues construction of the fortifications, in there retreat across the Volga river many bridges were destroyed by the enemy so makeshift bridges were hastily built so Infantry could cross and take up forward positions. FM Von Manstein issuing orders that together with the current fort network being constructed engineer units are to begin bridging the river with large scale heavy bridges suitable for armoured forces that can conduct a rapid deployment to the east bank.

South of 3rd Pz Armee the situation is likewise quiet the only enemy activity coming from the Red Air Force conducting recon operations, enemy ground units have been spotted but maintain there distance beyond the range of our heavy artillery, construction in this sector continues at a steady pace unaffected by the enemy.

No major combat on the southern front Soviet armoured forces had moved to within 30 miles of 18th Armee positions for a short time then pulled back, Generalleutnant Wilhelm Stemmermann Commander of the Armee ordering not to engage the enemy unless fired upon top priority the construction the of the eastern fortifications.

At Stalingrad itself 4th Pz Armee maintains an iron grip around the southern suburbs General Nehring waiting patiently for the right moment to strike at the encircled Soviet 2nd Rifle Corps holding out in the rubble.

On the Caspian Sea front once again the Red Army launches another uncoordinated armoured attack towards Kharabali and Astrakhan Von Kleist at his HQ at Rostov is informed of the enemy movement towards the front gives the orders for Breith and Ruoff to encircle the enemy formations and destroy them.
The Red Army assault is blunted by 1st Pz Armee's Panzer formations as 17th Armee infantry moves to support German armour as it brushes aside the lead elements of Soviet armour and begins to push into the rear areas cutting off the enemy's escape routes, on Ruoff's left flank Generalmajor Friedrich Schulz's VIII ArmeeKorps moves northeast linking up with Felix Steiner's III SS Pz Korps and Eugen Ott's LII ArmeeKorps sealing the fate of of five Soviet Tank Corps.
Reports from Axis Recon aircraft indicate four more enemy Tank Corps moving south but are to late to help there comrades.

While strategic bombing is the Allied priority in Germany, in France and in particular northwestern France the enemy continues there ground interdiction operations on Rail, Road, Air Bases and Ground forces at Normandy, Allied ground attack aircraft also target Army Command centres in an effort to disrupt communications to units fighting at the Normandy front.
The few German fighter units stationed IX Flieger Korps ( Stefan Froehlich ) and II Jagd Korps ( Werner Junck ) have been offering spirited resistance against the enemy attacks.

As the battle in the air and on the ground continues to intensify for the control of the Normandy beachhead, BF 109G-6's from I Jagd Korps and F-5B Lightnings and F-6C Mustangs have been locked in a series of air battles over the Pfalz and Hesse regions, the enemy conducting smaller night bombing raids on Industrial centres along the Rhine river and Frankfurt, while damage is minimal to factory operations this distraction is diverting fighter units away from the main fight.

Southern France / Northern Italy
Allied air forces have opened a new front in Western Europe, in Italy Savona, Cuneo and Imperia were bombed as was the rail infrastructure in this region severely hampering transport operations, in the Provence region the enemy conducted a mass bombing operation Nice, Cannes, Digne, Toulon, Marseille, and Avignon were hit, Rail and Port faculties the main objectives.
Enemy Bombers also struck at all rail networks in the region as far north as the town of Gap, the damage was widespread and considerable with no Axis fighter units stationed in this area, some units from II Flieger Korps ( Italy ) were diverted once it became clear of the enemies intentions, but for the most part ground base defences were the only opposition to the raids.

High Command has ordered two air units to be immediately deployed to the Montpellier air base to begin operations against Allied forces, General Von Vaerst ( Army Group G ) has ordered a heightened state of alert for his command.

On The Caspian Sea front Von Kleist's forces begin the annihilation of the trapped enemy ( 7th, 10th, 13th, 14th and 16th ) Tank Corps, there is bitter fighting as some Red Army units fight to the end while about 45,000 Soviet soldiers surrender having very little support from the Red Air Force and unable to breakout of the encirclement while nearly 1000 tanks are captured or destroyed. The Soviets seems determined to throw the last of there manpower and resources into this sector of the front line, the limited Lend-lease that still trickles through to Stalin from the West and conscripts from The Far East and The Urals have so failed to make any impact due to the lack of competent command leadership in the Red Army.
There already new reports of enemy forces moving south.
