how many generals?

Post by General Quarters »

I am wondering how many generals everybody likes. Do you play with More Generals, Less Generals, or the Default Number of Generals?

I use the Default Number because I don't like too much micromanagement. What is your preference?

In previous posts on this the majority view was that default gave too few and more gave far too many. I think it was being addressed - not sure if that will be in the next patch.

I would rather have to many as compared to not enough.[X(] I can always send them home until I needed them.[:'(]

I even double them up although I doubt if I get an advantage out of it.

I agree that default gives too few and more generals, give to much.  But nevertheless, I'd rather have too many than not enough!

Yes, good point. I stick them in forts.

I play with the standard amount. I've tried more generals but with the numbers that the Academies support I end up with tons of 1 stars taking up space for nothing.

I like having more than I need, having more would be better for Brigades and forts.

You are aware that one stars can help forts and cities, that they can attach to brigades in divisions if you use hexbattles? Unless you have more generals than you have brigades I would suggest you never have to many.

You can never have too many if you fight detailed combat... unless they really suck...  they'll be attached to your brigades.  I put the best available two star in charge of a division and then add any left over 1 stars spread out over my divisions.  The worst generals get sent back to some nice quiet location out of the way... you know... just in case the the enemy breaks through and threatens New York... or maybe Maine...

I think that the “more generals” options will be used a lot more after the next patch, especially if generals can resign when demoted.

I’ve never put a general in a fort, must remember to start doing that…cheers.

The number of generals being produced by academies is being changed in this patch, so we should revisit the issue of the different settings for generals once that's out. For now, we don't want to make a change without knowing if there's still a perceived need for it.
