Help with equipment editor

Post by Bombur »

-I don´t have ACOW installed on my computer (but I own it). After I bought TOAW III and upgraded it, I attempted to use Bioeditor. I created a file using the Notepad and edited the file like Bob Cross suggests in his manual, in order to redirect BioEditor to TOAW III. Unfortunately, I cannot make the changes in the registry, when I double click in the COW.REG file it says that it isn´t a valid registry script. It seems I´m doing something wrong, but I cannot figure out what....

If the FAQ at the top doesn't help, you may have to go to the start menu, select run... and then type regedit, and go to the registry key and add it manually.

Hey I'm liking this new equipment editor a lot. One quick question....on the new T-64A that was added to the "New Equipment" category....what's the 1927 refer to in BioEd? ( see picture below where 1927 is in a red circle ):

1927 is the slot number of the list.

Actually no. :) Either you klick on tab P8 and chose "insert after" or "insert before" (or whatever it says), or you edit the xml file manually, adding extra id's.

I've tried that, adding or deleting entries, and no matter what I do there's still 2018 slots left hehe [;)]

Ahhh, didn't notice that. I haven't tested, but I would guess the game would still recognize the 2019th slot even though it doesn't show up in BioEd.

You can rename the equipment.eqp to equipment.xml and load respectively import it into BioEd, right? Or how did the T-64A make it into BioEd?

I forget what the max is, but there are about 90 or so extras allowed for new equipment.

I didn't even have to rename the file....I just imported the equipment.eqp file and voila, the T-64A was in the first of the new equipment slots at the bottom of the inventory.

Wohaa - live and learn. Didn't know about that. Thank you Larry. Does it work the other way, too - "export as" and then type in .eqp in the file name field as file name extension (i.e. Anzio44.eqp)?
Btw, i have set my windows to always display file name extensions, but if one hasn't he would need to do so in order to execute this procedure, right?

You know, I'm not sure if you can name it what you want to name it when you export. I'll have to do a test and see

EDIT: I did a test and voila, you CAN name it whatever you want.

I'm not sure. I would imagine so.

What is BioEd and how do you access it? I own TOAW III. Is it included with the game? Checked the game files and couldn't find anything about it. Nothing in the editor or any of the game menus. Looks interesting.

Look in the Manuals folder for "How to Edit the Equipment Database.pdf"

This explains all and tells you where you can access Bio-Ed.

I've attached a pictorial picture-like pic to help you find the documentation for BioEd. It's a means that the TOAW database can be extended to include modern weaponry ( or for that matter, civil war era stuff ) or to add equipment that isn't in the stock version of the database as we have it now. It's to be recommended in my opinion...it's easy to use and indespensible to be able to manufacture equipment like the new Stryker vehicles the Army has, etc. You can even construct weaponry like the UAV unmanned aircraft that the CIA uses and stuff like that.

No, but it's free for the download. You can find it here:

Try it, you'll like it.
