Did I Pull Off the Deal of the Century?

Post by KG Erwin »

In my 1941 real player association, on a whim I made an offer to the Red Sox for Ted Williams. Astoundingly, the AI GM gave me a short list of players they'd accept in a one for one trade.

I am assuming that current stats played a part in this, as my 34-year-old starting pitcher Whit Wyatt is having a hell of a season (8-1, ERA under 2.50).

I jumped at the deal. They accepted it. I am STILL giddy about this. Ted Williams, at 23 years old, is now a Brooklyn Dodger. Ted was leading the association in HR (11), but batting just .318.

I suppose my timing was perfect, as Boston was floundering in 6th place in the AL and their pitching was terrible.

PS His first AB for us was a 2-run HR. Will the mercurial "Kid" be accepted in "Bwooklyn"? You bet your a*s he'll be accepted. [:D]

It's a guy I had traded to the Sox earlier in the season -- Dixie Walker. Considering his later history vis a vis race relations, that Southern boy is a perfect fit for Boston. As it has turned out, it somehow seems appropriate. The Sox won their last game. To me, it's a case of unintentional serendipity.
