Points/Questions

Post by Kipper »

Couple of questions points for Vic/test team:

A) What does the supply layer view actually mean? Initially I thought that is was the supply distribution for a regime/side, but it changes depending in what hex you select. The hex you select is always green, then the farther away ones are tan, grey, red etc. Every hex can't be in supply, so I am missing something here. Looked though the manual but couldn't find anything. Also, what do those colors represent exactly?

B)Couple of little interface issues - Town names do not always show up on strategic map. As far as I can tell they show up on either the first turn after starting a scenario or the second turn after loading a savefile. The Green Tick Mark button might be on screens where it has no function, e.g. strategic map screen.

Great so far, well done!!! Have been playing North Africa 41 and it has a *very* authentic feel to it. Everytime I say "I bet they didn't do this..."... it turns out you did. You are disappointing my talent for disappointment!

a) Supply layer

If you select a normal unit the supply layer will be calculated from that units HQ.
If you select a HQ or an empty hex the supply layer will be calculated from that hex.
You can also select an enemy hex.

Green color = full supply
Yellow = 75%
Blue = 50%
Red= 25%
No color = out of supply

If you right click on a hex the actual supply path will be shown using arrows.

b) only towns worth victory points are shown on the strategic map

kind regards,
Vic

OK so basically if I am to check a unit's supply I need to click on it, go to supply layer and see where it is relative to the supply distribution of its HQ. And from that I can also see where other subordinate units to that HQ are relative to supply. To check the supply situation of all my units I select one under each of my HQs and press the supply layer.

It seems that the best way to do it is just to select each HQ and see what they supply layer says is the distribution from that HQ - or am I missing something? Just need to get my head around the display. Thanks for the help.

thats right.

also keep an eye on the "supply requested" and "supply in" stats of a unit since they give you a quick feel how supply at start of turn went. There is also a small coloured block in each counter that tells you req/in ratio at a glance.
