Trades question

Will the AI make or ask for trades with other teams if I am commissioner and all teams are computer ??

Have not even seen a trade yet !

Teams have wants and needs but no deals !

They should inform me, correct ??

That's what I would expect in an MP situation, but I refrained from an answer not knowing what would change with all-AI managers. However, thinking about it a little further, I could not imagine how the game would allow for a trade independently between teams when a Commissioner exists. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that NO- trades will not happen unless you manually put Player X in team 1 and Player Y in team 2.

How far into the season are you ? I dont think Ive ever played with all CPU managers, but I would have to think that they will make trades. In the first year of my latest historical career (1903) there were 17 trades made between CPU teams. Are you sure you have CPU trades on ? There is a toggle when starting a league for "allow computer AI trades". If that is toggled on, the CPU will trade. If unchecked, the CPU wont trade. If you are not sure, you could check with Crash Davis's PSConfig utility

Yes it is Multiplayer mode.

Yes the box is checked for AI trades

If I play in single mode and leave all teams AI, then they will trade ??
I was hoping for the option to oversee AI trades if I was Commish !
I may start over again (3 years in now)

Will they make trades that are OK or some odd ones ??

If you play in regular single-player mode and make sure that AI Trades box is ON, then YES- they will trade, even if they're all AI managers. It will be the same as if you had one team as human manager; the only difference in your planned setup is that there would be just 1 more AI manager. They will make some good trades and some questionable ones, but in order to make sense of some of them, you may have to dig deep and do a little research.

I once saw a team trade off an AMAZING hitter for a kid with lots of potential. I was completely dumbfounded why they would ship off this great hitter. Well, looking further, I noticed the shipping team was in the process of getting younger. They weren't even remotely within reach of a pennant or any sort of title and were already looking into the future. A trade such as this would look broken and just plain WRONG 'on the surface' while looking behind the scenes, it will make more sense.

Regretfully, this isn't always the case and sometimes they'll trade away Albert Pujols for a guy with no arms and you just sit there banging your head on the table crying "Why?!? Why?!? Why?!?!".
