Ballpark Dimensions

Post by Wrathchild »

Is there a maximum dimension to a park? I'm trying to create a historic field which had a 510' center field wall, but it keeps pushing the number back to 475' each time I try a number higher than that.

Yes, I believe there are certain maximum dimensions. The deepest section of CF in the Polo Grounds is 475 feet.

Hold it -- I just looked at the diagram for Shibe Park. It shows as 515 in CF, but the picture literally goes off the page [:D] :

I wonder why I can't get a park to above 475' then.

I might be stepping into unfamiliar ground here, but what if KG were to export that park then sendthisfile.com it to Wrath?

The .prk file is already inside PS. The "painted park" pic comes from Padres Fan's site.

That makes me wonder: what if I used that park and changed a few dimensions? Would it immediately drop back to 475'? I see an experiment coming on today.

I'm curious about that too, Wrath. Let us know how that works out.

Well, I tried it. I changed the center field dimension from 515' to 510' (trying to build Cincinnati's Palace of the Fans), but as soon as I tabbed to a different field it switched to 475'. I have no idea how someone was able to get a 515' fence in there.

Hey Wrathchild,

This may not work but after entering the dimension hit ENTER istead of tab and see if that works

Nope. :) Even if you leave the cursor in that field and click on the Done button for the park revisions it still jumps to the 475' maximum.
