One thumb up & one thumb down

Playing w/real players, 1975. AL using the DH and the NL not using the DH during the season.

In World Series action, the teams follow the home team's rules. This is good and deserves a thumbs up.

When the AL team is at home, however, the NL team's DH is automatically batting 9th in the order. Props to the AI for selecting the proper players to use as DH. Cincinnati's AI manager selected Dan Driessen. Driessen was, coincidentally, the NL's first DH (in 1976, I believe [;)]). I can almost accept him batting 9th, as he was young and had some foot speed.

On the other hand, Pittsburgh's AI selected OF Bill Robinson. Great choice, but he should not bat 9th. This seems to be the default and rates a thumbs down. Robinson was in his early 30's and was certainly better-suited for a spot around #5 or #6 in the order. This default puts the NL AI at a disadvantage and is something that, I feel, needs to be near the top of the "fix" list.

Has anyone out there seen a National League DH batting other than 9th in the order? If this is NOT the default, please disregard this post entirely.

Great catch. Playing my Marlins Replay, started in 2006 & currently in 2009, our DH has always been created batting in the #9 slot. It would be nice to put it in a slot suitable for whatever player the AI selects to fill that role.

Also, it would be nice if NL teams (or the non-DH league teams in fictional associations where not everyone has a DH) had a way to designate who would be the DH when that came around. For example, I would like a way to flag a player as the DH should we play an interleague game. Perhaps this could be included in the Player Settings?
