The amazing scoreless streak

Post by Bustoff »

I just gotta share this. I have a fictional association that is in its fourth year. My pitching staff, while pretty good, is nothing to brag about. Nonetheless...somehow these guys have combined to put together a streak of 41 scoreless innings--no runs, earned or unearned, have crossed the plate in more than 4 games. This may be due more to the teams being played (The Peoria Chiefs and the Waterloo Diamonds, who both sort of suck) than the skill of my pitching staff, but what a kick to see all those zeros on the scoreboard! Has anyone seen a scoreless streak this long...or longer?

First off, let me start by saying that your avatar scares me.

A lot.

That said, I am experiencing something similar, but in a much lesser scale. My Florida Marlins are into their 2011 season and we have an up-and-coming young pitcher by the name of Graham Taylor. He was 12-3 with a 2.73ERA in AAA Albuquerque when one of my starters went down with a rotator cuff injury and he got the call-up. Since arriving in the majors, Taylor has rung up a streak of 18 scoreless innings. That's not as impressive as 40+, but the kid has earned some props.

He's starting a game as I type this. Let's see how far he can continue to extend it.

Edit: I jinxed him. It ended at 20.

Whe you think about all that can happen over the course of a game, it does not matter who you play, 2 - 4 games without a run scored is impressive.

You will have to let us know how long it lasts.....

I'm sort of afraid to play the next game. Maybe all the runs that should have been scored are going to jump out and say BOO!!! and my South Bend River Hawks will lose 35-3.[X(]

I'll keep y'all posted. Frozen, what's the deal...do anthropomorphized shoes freak you out? All I can say to that is HOY HOY!

I must say that I find it amusing that the man with a dancing super-hero is wigged out by one red-shoe.

Now that's funny.

Streak ended at 45 innings. Dustin Velasquez allowed one lousy stinkin' run in a 6-1 romp over the Fort Wayne Wizards. I fined him a hundred bucks and next time he pitches, he has to wear a dress. And red high heels.
