Salaries: Are Pitchers Always the Highest Paid at the Start?

Post by KG Erwin »

I used finances in 1947, and I noted that the top-salaried guys were all pitchers. Is this a common occurrence, or did I just happen to pick a year when the best players were the guys on the mound? Warren Spahn was the highest-paid player (real-life stats 21-10, 2.33). To put this into perspective, his price was $177,000/yr (1947 dollars).

KG,
For me, pitchers always get the most money. More than Ruth, Klein, Gehrig, DiMaggio, T. Williams and Greenberg. Doesn't seem right does it.

OK, this is another issue we should address in the Wolverine forum.

Starting in 1900, the pitchers are the highest paid, and they should be. Without good pitching, you'll never win a championship!!!
