Panther Games, where have you been all my gaming life?

Post by SlickWilhelm »

Gentlemen,

Mere words fail me right now. I just completed playing through most of the first tutorial, using Dave & Steve's most excellent documentation. When I started the game moving for the first time after issuing the orders, my jaw dropped and hit the floor as I watched my units move into position.

Quite simply, I think your "AA" real-time game system could be the best thing to happen to wargaming since the PC.

The whole Panther Games team should be proud of themselves. I think you folks have created an instant classic that will remain at the top of gaming lists with the likes of XCOM: UFO Defense and Civilization, to name but a few of my fondest gaming memories.

Btw, I realize I'm about two years late jumping onto the band wagon, but I've been busy being a dad for about the last ten years. :)

Anyway, congratulations on such a fine product! [&o]

Slick,

I expect Dave will be along to greet you.

We, the entire Team, think that this is the very best command simulation engine ever created. In fact, we have real military vets/consultants on board who also think so.

But as much as we love this engine, I do have to admit that the traditions of turn based/hex gaming are very, very entrenched. We've been fighting an uphill battle for World Domination. But, led by Dave, we one day will prevail against the strangle hold of legacy gaming concepts.

Once again. Thanks for your kind remarks. Welcome to our community!

Slick Wilhelm,

Welcome!

Well Panther Games has been around since 1985, designing award winning wargames. I must admit it's been a hard road to follow at times and it's difficult to create an online market presense. I am glad you like our game. Please tell your mates about it. Word of mouth can be very effective.

Slick Wilhelm

Congratulations on finding this great game. I had the good fortune to buy this as soon as it was released. Although I dabble with a few other games (occasionally intensively), CotA is my prime tool for operational warfare gaming.

Don't miss out on the next release, BftB. There are some great additions to an already top ranked gaming system.

Happy gaming

Hi Slick,

welcome.

Better late than never. This is just the beginning of the rest of your gaming life.
Being a dad is equally more important.

You do realize you are later than 2 simple years, do you ? Did you check the previous games in the series ?
Not to tempt you too much, but Christmas is approaching... [;)]

Cheers,

At least we now know how the pro-tank factions felt arguing with with the pro-cavalry factions after Cambrai...

Ive never really liked the hex based games, and that is starting from Battletech board/miniature games...a couple of lives ago. I always wondered why hex and not octagon for example, and even nowadays, even in Forge of Freedom i seldom play a detailed battle (on hex map) at all, preferring more abstract instant or quick battle.

It's true, COTA is a true work of art. Forget fancy graphics this is all about calculations and the engine is ok for any scenario. The only missing thing is a 3d map but as i said, it's far beyond usefulness. Real commanders didn't have 3d map and satellites, we're already advantaged compared to them. [:)]

I second the thread starter's question: Where have you been so far, Panther Games? What are you working on right now? What can we expect from you for the near future? [8|]
