My Dodgers' Deal of the Century

Well, it is May 1939, and "Dem Bums" traded for a 21-year-old rookie OF nicknamed "The Kid". Yep, Ted Williams will be wearing Dodger blue. He was part of a six-player (3 for 3) deal, and the Sox picked up a couple of very good pitchers. No scrubs were involved, so it seemed kosher.

I'm currently languishing in 7th place, but needless to say, I'm very excited about our "future" prospects. [:D]

Nice! Its always more interesting when, through legitament moves by you and the CPU, you end up with a star player to develop. I recently made a trade in my solo league where I picked up an extemely young Lefty Grove for the veteran 3B Les Bell. I limit myself trading wise for my leagues, trying to do things the way I think the CPU would do things, so when a trade like this comes around, I get excited. Grove was the 1928 A.L. Rookie of the Year winner with the Philadelphia Athletics (21-8 3.09 ERA), and the 1929 A.L. A.G. Spalding Award winner (my Cy Young Award)(23-7 3.74 ERA), and Bell has been a decently consistant player with a lifetime .294 BA and 96 HR's in 9 seasons with the Yankees (my team) winning 2 Gold Gloves (1929, '30) and making 3 All-Star games. Grove's potential is a little dicey, and they have a pretty good pitching staff without Grove, so I think the CPU was a little scared that Grove would peak early
