Battle Time Limits?

Post by Bandito »

Do you all like to use them? I never was too fond of time limits in any computer game, and in the Close Combat games I like to use the option to end the battle when force morale goes too low. There's something about time limits that I like, though, and I think maybe 30 minutes might be a bit more time than 15.

What do time limits add to your game? Does it simulate something in real battles?

I can see time limits especially useful in multiplayer games, or as a way for one side to keep their victory locations without a lot of back and forth. Also, I find it adds just a little more fun tension.

It doesn't seem to benefit sneaking around very much, though, but maybe I'm missing the object of sneaking and try to use it too much when not necessary.

Hello,

One thg Ive found playing TLD is you can even modify the time limit you decide on.

In a GC were we are using 2 time limits. 15mins on all beach maps (take truce at 15m), 30mins for all other maps. Seems to be a great balance. Germans have very limited BGs on beach maps and you dont want to give the Allies to much advantage in sneak time. I prefer 30 min battles(H2H), seems to offer best compromise, specially now with larger maps and smaller BGs in TLD, and the time really flys by anyway when you are having fun!

Gz...

30 minutes seems like it would give me a little more time to get the Victory Locations.

Do you know, that if after the time limit expires and you capture the Victory Locations, if you need to play the map again the next turn you still keep those same Victory Locations? Not sure what it means if, for example, I capture some of the Victory Locations but not enough to win the battle before the time runs out.
