When they're close...go for the knife!

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

Okay, enough of the moron tough talk. Listen, if the enemy is close then there should be an "assault (option) button". This would provide the player with a 'melee' option that is probable in combat (i.e., with bayonets, fists, whatever). Can it be done?

Aufklarung (fuuny nick BTW)

Modelling of CC was something that was never done in any SP, and remians high priority for all groups that work on the game. SO far the best idea was given by Andy Gailey - increase efficency of grenades. This is exactly what i have done in my OOB's (blatant plug for 'em) - i swapped Hand Grenades to new CLose COmbat attack -with increased accuracy and HE kill. Check it out and see if you like it...

Close combat is when one has no time to fumble around with all of HIS moth-balled smelling, plastic crap gear, etc. As a result, he goes for his e-tool and goes in swinging like a retarded version of Babe Ruth who has watched way to many movies. I hope that helps you conceptualize a rather dramatic but effective version of melee.

I meant the weapon in SPWAW. Gud invented it. I was trained in close combat. I know what it is. You kick the opponent in the crotch, bash him with your rifle butt, cut him with your knife, bayonet, e-tool or anything else you can lay your hands on. If you don't have a weapon you use your hands, feet, teeth.
