runtime error 429
runtime error 429 ActiveX component can't create object.
On startup.
Immediate fail.
I've tried to run CCleaner to rectify any registry oddities.
I had a previous version 1.51. I think it was a pay ware version. I have a serial number. I tried to update to the 1.75 freeware, and can't access the game at all now.
I've uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted.
Any options?

RE: runtime error 429
So far this is what Ihave found.....
How to get a DirectX diagnostic file:
1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
I had that problem awhile back. Try looking for a active X repair tool.
"Shaun, that was for an older IE than what I have. But it got me headed in the right direction. So I spent quiet a while on the Microsoft pages looking for a RTE 429 fix. One IE7 repair file helped but didn't completely fix the problem. It did let me get to the crack of the bat before getting RTE429. A few files didn't help at all. Another file was an active X repair for MS Office. After that was loaded I could open the game. I was still getting some errors about opening photo's. Also had problems Configuring Memorial Stadium's Hitting zones (forgot what it is called. Senior moment). Any way at least I can play the game. I sent you a couple of error reports on the photo's and Stadium problems. For a guy who is lousy with software at least I was able to stumble my way back into the game. Thanks for your help Shaun. "

RE: runtime error 429
This is pretty frustrating. I've done the CCleaner registry cleanup up tool. I'm looking for an active X repair tool, but only find stuff that will run me another $40.
I'll add that I had 1.51 up and running. I loaded the first image Shaun posted before the weekend for testing he had for 1.75. I believe it was 1.72. I installed it, and it ran but errored when I did something strange in setting up a league...I can't actually recall what it was now. I didn't try to get back in, I just saw that 1.75 was out, and went to install it directly.
I've uninstalled. Rebooted. Installed rebooted and tried to start the game. No luck. The CCleaner shows no troubles before and after PS crashes with the 429 error.

Oh Don. Thank You very much for your help. I'm hoping another guy who isn't good with software...at least not in Windows...can figure this out.

Did you install v1.75 over v1.51 or v1.72? Or, did you install to a brand new location?

RE: runtime error 429
I installed 1.75 over 1.72 over 1.51.
I wish I had had the foresight to use a new install location. I've since uninstalled all of it, and attempted to reinstall clean. The install completes, but the error persists.

One more update. When I start the game using the Game Menu Icon. This brings up the Menu with other Matrix games stuff..register..forums..support and the like..the sounds I get when I mouse over the selections are ....wrong... rapid or hurried "bllleeps"
Off to review my sound drivers.

I haven't been back to deal with this, but I've had no joy. Any ideas where I can find resolution? I've broken a game I paid for with a free update, and that is kind of discouraging.
I'll try the 1.76 update tonight.

Seriously. Any chance anyone can help with this?
I wish I hadn't seen the news about the free update. I would still have a working game.

Try the latest (DEBUG) Release Candidate, it is instrumented with debug code and should give us a good idea where the issue lies.

Hey quick Question. Is the Debug Release Candidate the 1.80 download from the front page of your site?

Sorry, no. Maybe just give 1.80 a shot though, since it is a full install.

Well 1.8 didn't work out. Where can I get the debug exe? Do I just copy it over my existing? I'll uninstall 1.80, and reinstall as needed. I'll just need a little bit of pointing in the right direction, if you can.

Well I found the Debug Release Candidate for download, but it isn't available anymore for download. I guess I should have paid more attention to the forum, rather than just this topic. I didn't see the debug option.
Any chance the debug copy can be made available again?

Install 1.80 and, then download this file and unzip it into your "c:\matrix games\puresim baseball 2007" folder (overwriting the existing puresim2k7.exe file.) This should produce a crash report that you can email to me, and then hopefully we'll be able to figure out what component in your Windows install is corrupt.

Shaun,
Crashdavis helped me out with a link to a debug RC. He said I should go back to my 1.75 release, then apply the Debug RC over that.
I've sent you the debug results from that effort. to shaun@puresim.com.
Thanks for helping me out here.

RE: runtime error 429
I fed my Debug Error response to Shaun, and received the following.
Pure Magic Baby.
Thank You Shaun and Crash
Okay, that helps me pinpoint it to the exact file. It appears your Windows install has a corrupt or unregistered component that PureSim uses. (scrrun.dll)
Try this:
1. From the start menu choose "run" 2. Type "cmd" into the run box
This will put you at a command prompt
3. type "cd \windows\system32"
4. type "regsvr32 scrrun.dll"
You (should) get a message that it succeeded.
5. Try and run PureSim again.
Pure Magic Baby.
Thank You Shaun and Crash
