Community Help Request

Post by puresimmer »

One feature I'd like to get in PureSim is Historically correct parks. So I created a spreadsheet that contains all the unique park names and configurations by team. There are 132 of them.

I'd love to get the community's help in filling in the estimated fence distances and heights for each park, as well as the year ranges the park was/is in use.

If anyone is interested in helping I have shared the online-editable spreadsheet as a Google Doc here:

Edit Park Spreadsheet Here

If we can get this filled out then I'll update the game to choose the correct park when doing historical replays. Thanks in advance to any folks that can help!

If this works out then maybe we could get some other community projects going with assigning the appropriate photos, team logos etc!

here is info on League park

WOW, 505 to left center, and 420 to center, of course right field was a joke, but you got to get it up into the air :)

Here is a spreadsheet that has been around for a long time that may help start things off. Maybe not as in-depth as you are looking for, but it could certainly be a big help in starting.

Change the file extension from .txt to .zip to see it (the site wont take .xls files and unzipped was too large to upload)

I'm using someone's spreadsheet that shows not only the ballparks but also the various team changes and relocations and expansions over the years. I've modified mine quite a bit based on other info I've found, as well as adding every park for the majors (the original included mostly deadball parks) and tweaking some of them to make them more historically usable for Puresim. With some of the shorter foullines of the older parks it doesn't matter how low you set the HR setting for the game, you will still be breaking historic records. I can share what data I am using if anyone is interested, as well as give the sources for the data I found.

What's the status on this? Can we start filling in information? Some of the fields require more entries than listed. For example, Philadelphia needs 2 different sets of data for the Baker Bowl, one for 1890-1914, and another for 1915-1938. There are quite a few cases like this, I believe.

If this is truly to proceed, and as a community project, it needs a little bit of organization. We can't just all go willy nilly posting data in a public spreadsheet. Won't it be subject to being overwritten by other people? Another thing to consider is that Puresim won't let you put in a distance of more than 475' or a height of more than 50' (I think, it could be 30'). That makes it impossible to put in the correct dimensions for some historic parks.

are you sure ?

in the stock game, League Park has a 505 left Centerfield ???

45 height to right, on the walls

but would think that since Shawn is the programmer and if the game has to be touched up to make the corrected parks work, he could do it ?

Some of the parks that come with the game exceed the limitations, but if you go in and edit that park and change that field you cannot get it back above 475', nor can you create any parks of your own with distances greater than 475'.

okay, thought that is what you meant, but since it would be Shawn adding them in, he should be able to get it to work, or make changes so we can later

some of those old parks are really wild

A side note: I'd like to see the correct region/weather settings imbedded within the prk files.
