Quick Battle - Forcing Night Action

I have been playing around with the editor, trying to recreate the Second Naval Battle of Guad. I have the two opposing TF's setup and moving to the proper hex, but they invariably have a day surface action. Anyone know of a way to force a night action? I have both TF's 4 hexes away...I tried 8 hexes, but they don't make it to the intended hex...any help appriciated...

give the attacking tf the orde to bomb
The other to surface .
If i believe the bomb TF comes in at night and whap nightbattle (if i read the manual wright)

Yep, Jap force is Bombard, US force is Surface Combat...still ends up day action...
