AI is enough ??

This revised and updated turn-based grand strategy game from the team at AGEOD brings players back to World War I, including both the Eastern and Western fronts and over 4 campaigns and 10 scenarios. As either a member of the Central Powers, the Entente or a neutral nation, players will confront the epic gauntlet of military and political challenges that faced the likes of Kitchener, Joffre, Luddendorf, Clemenceau, Czar Nicholas II or Enver Pasha.

AI is enough ??

Post by balenami1291 »

I Tried the demo. and I'm very impressed.

but 15 days is not enough to learn the game and to chalenge the game at "full throttle".

So I've only a final doubt.

Can AI challenges experencided players ?
(the first releases was famous for a not so good AI...)

The designer has stated reciently that with his latest improvements, the AI has even beat him. So I would say that the AI is getting better and better all the time.

The latest version of game AI is available with official patch 1.08I, that has been published also for the Demo version (see AgeOD official forum). So you can see with your own eyes. [:)]

Usually game developers are not the best players of their own games! [:D]

Bad choice. If you set the difficulty level at 4 or more, the AI has some outstanding bonus. Set also the Aggressivenes level at 4+.

He says HE struggles against the easiest AI :D

Calvinus has been constantly improving the AI, and I think it is pretty good. I think it is pretty close to the top level one can reasonably expect from an artifical opponent working with a complex system of this magnitude.

As a long time beta of the game (I run by the name of Tamas elsewhere, btw), I do prefer to either use max difficulty, or to turn off the fog of war to the AI (max difficulty turns it off), especially in 1914 since the human player has a huge hindsight of knowing the general position of the enemy armies and their general path based on their warplan. So I feel fair to compensate for this by lifting FoW for the AI.
But be very aware of keeping a steady line (through interception orders in 1914!) if you do that, because the AI will be relentless in pushing through a hole it can spot, either as a major breakthrough attempt, or to wreak havoc with a smaller force.

It took me a fair few goes to get it right at the first interphase redeployment...after making a mad dash for Paris I always ended up getting loads of corps cut off and the AI would have a lovely line well behind my shwerpunkt....managed to keeo a good line the last game which I'm still playing...love it...amazing game...

Yes indeed.

My Berlin Plan as Russia showed good progress in my thrust for the heart of Germany. Then I realized I had undercommitted to my Austrian front and the AI definitely took advantage and drove at me - I was in desperate straits.

The AI can "see" holes in the line and will take advantage of that. In a current game of the 14 scenario I made a rookie mistake and opened up a gap between the 3rd and 4th German Armies. Very quickly there were French units on the outskirts of Namur and approaching Brussels.

The AI is not as smart as a human in most things, but it is not a total dummy either. It can give a good fight.
