One other thing...

Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem is a highly enhanced new release of Close Combat, using the latest Close Combat engine with many additional improvements. Its design is based on the critically acclaimed Close Combat – A Bridge Too Far, originally developed by Atomic Games, as well as the more recent Close Combat: The Longest Day. This is the most ambitious and most improved of the new Close Combat releases, but along with all the enhancements it retains the same addicting tactical action found in the original titles! Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem comes with expanded force pools, reserve & static battlegroups, a troop point buying system, ferry and assault crossings, destructible bridges, static forces and much more! Also included in this rebuild are 60+ battles, operations and campaigns including a new enhanced Grand Campaign!

One other thing...

...for stupid people like me.

I was reviewing my soldiers performance after the first battle of the grand campaign, and I clicked a BACK button (I think it was anyway...could've been main) and it took me back to the main scenario selection screen (where I selected and started my grand campaign)...no warning about saving. No checking I had clicked the correct button...just took me back to the scenario selection screen and I've lost my first mission.

No biggie...it was a fun mission and I look forward to taking out the Stug earlier...but I could see that might get annoying.

Like I said...for the stoopid peeple like what I is [:D]

Forget that - seems it has saved my progress. I panicked when I clicked on my save (the save name you give your campaign when you start) and saw the intro movie again and then the campaign brief....but I have now clicked next and discovered it's moved me into one of the other areas.

So panick was uncalled for [:D]

JD,

Are the tanks etc in scale compared to the infantry like CC2 or are they tiny as in the later CC games?

If you've completed at least one battle of a GC the game will then appear in your saved battles folder as an auto-save. So you didn't lose anything if you were reviewing your soldiers performance on the soldier screen from the debrief screen. All you need to do is reopen that saved battle and the next battle will be lined up on the strat map. If you wanted a screenshot of the debrief screen or wanted to go back and look at that specific soldier screen sadly that is lost but you can still review those stats by clicking on the BG icon on the strat screen, then any one of the units below the strat map window and you'll be taken to the soldier screen. You'll be viewing the CUMULATIVE results of the soldiers throughout the campaign at that point but since you've only played on battle it's essentially the same thing as what you were looking at, at the end of the last battle.

I'm going to play a battle right now to replicate what you did to see if I can find the sequence of buttons you used that took you out of that game. There is one button layout that Atomic used that is somewhat confusing but I don't think that was the location. Would have to check to refresh my memory. Sort of navigate the game by wrote now without thinking about it. [;)]

It really isn't a problem...I just wasn't expecting to go back to where I ended up but I may well have clicked the wrong button. I was more concerned about losing my progress, but I did find out that the game saves after each battle....so it's not a problem.

Wodin, if you look at the yellow circle where the tank is, you can see infantry next to it. I guess you could say they aren't to scale. Not an issue for me, but is for you clearly [:D]

I appreciate that.

Wodin there is a small soldiers mod out there that makes the soldiers at scale with the tanks. They're tiny little dots and tough to see but that would be one option for you. It's been a while since I've tried out that mod in one of our builds but I think iirc it should work in this as well with no changes needed. Just be sure to back up any files you set out to work on before you start tinkering in case I'm wrong. [;)]

There are couple of options for different sized soldiers, you can grab the file(s) from the TLD site; http://closecombat.matrixgames.com/Long ... Dmods.html

Therions 5pix
cso_linebackers 7.66pix
yukongolds 9.5px

I use the 9.5 as the other two make the soldiers too small for my liking. But at 9.5 they are still probably a bit bigger than the tanks which are probably around 8 pixels per meter.

Would I be right in thinking that the smallest of these, Therion's, is the best match for the map at 5 pixels per meter? Can you actually see these troops with a large, modern monitor?

IMHO... you need binoculars for the 5pix soldiers

Best bet though is to give them all a try and see what you like.

They do not affect H2H play so you can switch them about freely.

I really don't like soldiers at that scale. They're impossible to see. I like some aspects of it but with my screen resolution they're specks. Just my preference. Many like the smaller soldier sprites. Give 'em all a try and make up your own mind. The beauty of modding.[;)]

7.66 looks best on my current monitor, but I'm sure it needs replaced with something bigger!
