Thanks Voriax, but since you explained it so well, I'm going to try to recreate it in my version to see if I have the same problem.

I think well over 80 British tanks were lost in this engagement alone...the Aussie 9th Armored Brigade was decimated. A steep price to pay but they got the job done.

How many 88s you got left Image?

The second big or "Momo" scenario has just gone up in the Game Depot for SPWAW. For those who like the big battles, this one is for you.

There are over 600 units involved in the major Commonwealth effort to break Rommel's lines at Tel al Aqqaqir on November 2-3, 1942.

A listing of the location of victory hexes and the main units that fought there with their scenario equivalents are listed at the end of the text file.

So grab some snacks, you are in for some serious desert fighting.

Cool. This is perfect timing for me cuz I just recently got back from a trip to Egypt where I had the chance to go to El Alamein which has a great museum.

Now if we could get some desert camo units in Ver 3.0....... grin

Thanks a lot WB!!

The scenario looks great, been playing 3 turns now.

But I encountered a strange bug! Image

When I try to order flight paths for the planes, whenever I try to select those little arrows only one of them get selected. When I click the second arrow a 'cancel bombardment' button of various PzA LrS(f) guns gets selected instead!

And when I try clicking at different arrows, the unit which cancel mission button is selcted also changes.

Really weird, I've never encountered such behaviour before.
Guess for now I have to rely on luck that the aircraft will arrive in some sensible direction.

Will Wild Bill it look like we wount get to play it after all, it keeps crashing at the end of turn 3. The same thing happened in your last big one that we tryed to play to.

Its not the big map doing it becouse we have played a number of games with the big maps and with lots of arty with no problem so what I am thinking is that it has something to do with going over 500 or 600 hundred units thats doing it in Email games. We are playing a unsecure game so that is not a factor.

If you want me to send the file for you guys to look at let me now.

It must be the E-Mail program, because both I and the group of testers played it through numerous times from both sides without a hitch.

I'll mention it to David and Tom. No need to send the save (yet!).

Here is what you can do. Write me a personal note, detailing what happened.

How you setup, how many turns played, did it crash during turn, before turn, which side was active, etc.

And if you do, go ahead and send the save with it. I'll pass the info along...WB

billw@matrixgames.com

Thanks. I hope you don't mind doing that.

WB, the battle has ended...146 burning commonwealth tanks litter the desert. Here and there an odd German tank lies smoldering...some tank crews are attaching slingshots in their tanks so that they could shoot back with *something*...

Great scenario, final score was about 15400 to 4000, so a marginal victory only. Major one will be difficult to get as the bunkers have about 1200 points in them and just about every bunker gets destroyed eventually.

I still had four 88's left at the end, but very little ammo, if any. Also I had to take many tanks away from the front line as AP or HE ammo ran out, or both!
I lost 24 AFV's about half tanks and half armoured cars. Boy was I desperate at times when those Grant/Valentine hordes just kept moving forward....

Voriax

ps. I noticed something interesting (again) Image Several times when I hit a tank, it became flagged as 'abandoned' but no crew popped out. Perhaps this happened because the unit amount limit had been reached and there just wasn't space for them?

You did amazingly well, Voriax. My congratulations to you. Your leaves to add to your Iron Cross are coming by courier along with the heartiest congratulations of the recently promoted Field Marshal Rommel!

Did General von Thoma survive. Of course he did!

Nice description. Battlefield looks a little different from when you began days ago.

You could be right about those crews. I will mention it. Thanks...WB

Drake, I narrowed it down to a particular unit and move that seemed to be creating the problem.

I forwarded the save and the info to Michael. He wrote back that he is committed completely to another project but said as soon as he could, he would look it over.

I'll keep you posted...Wild Bill

I started the scenerio as the Brits this weekend. 88's and mines oh my.. Just reached the bottom of the ridge. First time I stuck my nose up on the crest of the ridge the 88's smoked me.

Great scenerio so far.
